[Not so] Small suggestion for the home's "Top News" section

Post by KNTRO » 2015-10-06, 16:06

I want to suggest something small that could radically change some people's impressions. :o [ ]

When someone that have never heard about Pale Mooon visits the Pale Moon website's home, he/she could think: Ah, it's based on Firefox 25! This project is dead!, because of the version numbers. So, just like the Release Notes webpage, I suggest to include the release date in the Top News section, so it looks like Pale Moon has been updated to 25.7.2 (2015-10-02) to fix 2 critical hangs in the browser.

This way the new visitor can understand that latest release is just one month old or even less, and that Pale Moon 25.x.x is not based on Firefox 25.

That information is readily available with a little research. Which you should be doing when looking to change your browser or anything really.
How far are you prepared to go? How much are you prepared to risk? How many people are you prepared to sacrifice for victory?
Are you willing to die friendless, alone, deserted by everyone? Because that's what may be required of you in the war that is to come.

Dates have been added to the items. Not because I fear that people think "Oh it's based on Firefox 25" (do people even think that far back these days?) but because it's common practice to date announcements.

Yep, they do. I've not infrequently seen in other forums, comments in articles on other sites, etc where someone has that very perception.

That perception is because some vocal, buy unfortunately misinformed, people in the Mozilla community have been persistent in spreading this notion everywhere they could, and not necessarily because people think it's dead or not updated :P The problem is that this has been repeated by others as well who may not have been aware, and taken what they heard as true without verifying. The unfortunate downside of buzz feeds.
