[Solved] Dailymotion videos will not play
This is a but I encountered today. It occurs on both the lastest version (25.6) and the previous one (25.5).
Essentially, videos on dailymotion will not play at all. If I have the flash plugin enabled, I get a black screen. If I disable it, and try to force the html5 player, I get a "oh no, a problem occured" message where the video should be. I tried restarting palemoon in safe mode, the exact same behavior occured.
I also tried it in firefox. With flash enabled, the exact same happens. I tried it again in firefox, this time with flash disabled. The html5 player did work there. I am on linux, so I imagine it might have to do with dailymotion no longer supporting the outdated flash player. I imagine the best solution would be to figure out why the html5 player will not work for dailymotion. It works fine on youtube.
Is this a known issue with palemoon? Could it have to do with some config setting I might have changed in the past? I know dailymotion worked fine last week, so this is very recent. (flash version worked at least. I could never get their html5 player to work.)
Using palemoon 25.6, on linux mint 17, Xfce edition.

Re: Dailymotion videos will not play
I just tried it, and it worked for me. Are you using NoScript? I had to click "Allow all this page" twice before it would work.
EDIT:
This was on Windows. I'll reboot into Linux and see what happens for me there.

Re: Dailymotion videos will not play
I am, but I tried it with noscript disabled, and it still didn't work. This is most definitely not an addon issue.
Re: Dailymotion videos will not play
Just tried it on Linux Mint, and it worked for me. I had to do the clicking again in NoScript before it worked. (What was strange was that I got different search results so I had to test on a different video.) So at least we can rule out dailymotion not liking the Linux flash version. I'm out of ideas. Hopefully someone else can think of something.

Re: Dailymotion videos will not play
Mmm, so we know it's not an issue with the browser itself, but probalby with a config tweak I did at some point. This is useful information, thanks!
Re: Dailymotion videos will not play
Did you try it will all of your add-ons disabled?

Re: Dailymotion videos will not play
It was happening to me, as well, until I cleanly-installed the browser. Then again, I'm running Windows.

Re: Dailymotion videos will not play
I just tested it on my laptop, same OS, same browser. The problem happens there too. I visited Dailymotion using this laptop on saturday, so it's a recent change they made.

Since you mentioned "recent," I figured that I would go visit.Roranicus wrote:I just tested it on my laptop, same OS, same browser. The problem happens there too. I visited Dailymotion using this laptop on saturday, so it's a recent change they made.
I saw a random video, and did have a buffering wait, but the video loads fine. (Something about Sailor Moon. LOL!)

Re: Dailymotion videos will not play
It's definitely not a buffering issue. I've tried every possible thing I can think of at this point. I'm at a complete loss as to why it wouldn't work.
Re: Dailymotion videos will not play
Type about:config in your address bar, change media.gstreamer.enabled to true and then try again.
Works for me on Manjaro with PM 25.6.0

Re: Dailymotion videos will not play
That actually worked, thanks man! I suspected there was a variable somewhere in about:config that I missed.

Re: [Solved] Dailymotion videos will not play
I have no media.gstreamer.enabled option in about:config, but I had the same problem with Dailymotion.
I discovered what the problem was. In order to make Flash little less insecure, I used mms.cfg from here https://anonymous-proxy-servers.net/en/ ... plets.html
It was causing black screen instead of seeing video at Dailymotion. To be exact, it was this setting ThirdPartyStorage=0 which needs to be changed to ThirdPartyStorage=1.

Re: [Solved] Dailymotion videos will not play
I have same problem , only Youtube works but not Dailymotions video. but now it's fixed!
it's not your java, it's not your Flash Player, not your Windows update, not your cookies or Third-Party block, not the Pop-ups either. It's your Cache. and deleting your cache or cookies or histories from the normal method does no good.
I show you how to fix it.
i am using Internet Explorer 9 , but any browser should have the things im going to tell you
Look up to your Browser in the corner up there, you should see Settings icon, or go to your Tools menu and you should find ''F12 Developer Tools''or just press F12 if you are using Internet Explorer,
when u click on Tools or the Settings it will drop down a list of things , that looks like this
The Developer Tools is right below the Manage Add-Ons from the drop down list, when u click on the Settings

Zoom (100%)

But when u click from the Tools menu it will look differently but you can still see Manage Add-Ons and F12 Developer Tools from there. same thing.
now click on F12 Developer Tools or Developer Tools and you should see a small window box pop up that fills up almost halfway of the screen. this is the Developer Tools window menu. it's rare menu.
now find the word Cache
it will look something like this
File Find Disable View Images Cache Tools Validate | Browser Mode: IE etc etc
so click on the Cache tabs and then click on one of the selections that says ''Clear Browser Cache for this Domain''
while your current Dailymotions video page is the current page. once you cleared it, just Refresh and u done. now you can see videos again.
important you must make sure you are on the Dailymotions video page while you are clearing your Cache.
This Developer Tools is a rare menu that most people dont even think about. and it's right there in plain view accessible within your Tools and Settings area.
So u ask yourself why does Youtube video only work and videos dont work here? because maybe you'ved watched too many Long-version videos here in dailymotions and your cache fills up and needs to be cleared this way . haha
if you are successful please register and reply back a post so we know it works for you! because it sure works for me! i was so frustrated and angry and days and days trying to find out what the hells going on. and search in keywords to search the web and still no fix. i tried upgrading or updating Flash, Java, Windows, and got nowhere. But Chrome was working with dailymotions but my internet explorer didnt. so i started Looking more closely to the Settings area and found this Developer Tools menu and then i start looking around this area and saw a Cache , hmm maybe i clear this up and see what happens. and refresh. BAMM! video works again. haha
