Odd: It also runs slow in Maxthon, like you said with IE, but Cyberfox runs it close to acceptable.

Loads fast on my 5 year old desktop computer. Page loaded in about 3 seconds of time.
But this desktop computer is running 64 bit linux Pale Moon 25.3.0 in 64 bit linux Mint 17.

Re: Archive.org: Anyone experiencing lag?
Perhaps some specific Firefox only Javascript enhancement? The faq to the emulator says it runs best with Firefox - and i am pretty sure they do mean recent Firefox versions.

Noooooo, I was referring to the video.Night Wing wrote:Loads fast on my 5 year old desktop computer. Page loaded in about 3 seconds of time.

The site loads fast as well for me.
Re: Archive.org: Anyone experiencing lag?
Pretty sure it is something browser specific - there are also WebGL/HTML5 demos which are only watchable on Chrome/Chromium and only limited working on Firefox.
Other option would be that parts of Archive org just load damn slow

It isn't a video, it's an emulation of the game.
Tab to open up the menu.
Press 1 to start the game.
Very unresponsive, however.

It's archive.org
It's for archival purposes -- don't expect streaming capabilities?

Tried Chromium, latest today, and it wouldn't even play. After all, it is an Alpha Stage, so I expected as such, just a black screen.
The closest to Chrome that I would ever use/try is SRWIron and it ran it just like Cyberfox, almost smooth but still laggy.
Also, if there is anything we can do from the browser-side of things to get this working, or at least improve the quality.

I'm bringing this up because it would come around sooner or later from someone else.Moonchild wrote:It's archive.org

Re: Archive.org: Anyone experiencing lag on the video?
On the browser side of things there could only be a change to how much is pre-buffered before streaming -- and I'd rather buffer less and have a video start sooner than to buffer more just so unintended streaming use of an archival site can be satisfied. I hope you can understand where I'm coming from here,

Re: Archive.org: Anyone experiencing lag on the video?
Btw. it is no video, it is a game emulation so buffering makes no difference in this example
Re: Archive.org: Anyone experiencing lag on the video?
Game emulation. Because that is what a web browser is for

Also, a browser is no state of the art multimedia playerMoonchild wrote:Game emulation. Because that is what a web browser is for
On a more serious note... Mozilla is not only wanting Firefox to be the perfect multimediaplayer, social networking/Audio-Videochat browser, they are following since a while also the goal to offer best support for online games inside the browser.
So, they just added additional bloat which does not work on other browsers or only in a limited way. First they strip away customization out of the browser and afterwards they fill their browser with crap - makes zero sense

You know what they say about jacks-of-all-trades: they are never going to be good at anything.Sajadi wrote:On a more serious note...
