Fossamail x64 Crash when "Send to... Mail Recipient" is used

Using FossaMail (AMD64) on Windows 7 AMD64.

When selecting a file and using the "Send to... Mail Recipient" right-click context menu option, Fossamail crashes on startup (or crashes if already open).

This bug does not effect the x86 version.

In more understandable English than the above: It's a heap corruption error that occurs in a Microsoft-supplied module.
Usually this is caused by system libraries being modified or replaced by software installations or incomplete software updates.

Most certainly. Please do not use EMET on FossaMail or Pale Moon; it's known to cause issues and is wholly unnecessary unless you're running legacy software.
I'm not sure if any x64 application ever classifies as "legacy". In addition, with the compiler features already in place finding an attack surface in a 64-bit program is very difficult and time consuming.

Hi Moonchild. I just tried running FossaMail x64 in a fresh install, untouched (except for standard updates) Windows 7 virtual machine. It too crashed when using the Send to->Mail Recipient menu. So I don't the crashes are related to my desktop's specific Windows install.

This thread posted over a year ago had a similiar cause/result, except that user had Win 8.1.

However, his exception code is the same one in your report, and Moonchild noted the exception code pointed to a memory heap corruption.

Moonchild couldn't debug that code/environment and asked the user to relay the error to MS; no final resolution/followup was given.
Perhaps as you have Win 7, Moonchild could debug further in this instance? (as I'm sure he has loads of free time to do so )

I can't debug this since it's in a Microsoft module and I can't reproduce this error locally (so i can't attache a debugger to the process).
If you can write out a memory dump and send that to me (e.g. via dropbox, goodle/live drive or similar) then I *may* be able to get more details about the actual code point in FossaMail that cause that module to crash, but no guarantees. Even if so, at most I can build in a workaround to avoid tickling the Microsoft code the wrong way, but that doesn't solve the root cause.

I've had this issue with TB x64 and Fossamail x64 on W8.1 for about a year.
Same issue every time, completely unable to call the email client from any outside application without a crash. I was just about to toss out the current install and revert to a TB x32 when I tried the W8 troubleshooter. It spit out a suggested setting "Windows 8 mode". I ran it, and amazingly it got rid of the "send to" problem.

Sorry but i cant confirm this. I use EMET now for years with hightest security and i haver have problems with PM x86/x64 or FM x86/64.
So this is not a EMET problem.
