Bring back F12!
I don't know, why are you trying to mess with something which has been there for years?

Re: Bring back F12!
If i read this addon description: https://addons.mozilla.org/en/firefox/a ... -shortcut/ when i would say the f12 feature exist since Firefox25.
So first, the feature exist not for years and Pale Moon don't have this feature.

Re: Bring back F12!
I just verified that F12 opens Firebug, isn't that what it's supposed to do? Detailed posts are much better than cryptic and indignant.

Re: Bring back F12!
F12 will NOT open bundled devtools. This was as said previously to be introduced in later in Firefox. So this is not at present in Pale Moon.
HOWEVER...
Ctrl+Shift+K will open the Web Console
Ctrl+Shift+I will open the Inspector
Shift+F7 will open the Style Editor
Shift+F5 will open the Profiler
Ctrl+Shift+Q will open the Network (tool)
Shift+F2 will open the Developer Toolbar
Ctrl+Shift+J will open the Browser Console
Ctrl+Shift+M will open the Responsive Design View
Shift+F4 will open the Javascript Scratchpad
Ctrl+U will open View Source
AND if you have DOM Inspector installed that can be opened with Ctrl+Shift+I
EDIT: This will be evaluated though to the next version of Pale Moon

Re: Bring back F12!
Also, spamming the Pale Moon twitter account with the same request is wholly unnecessary, especially if making statements like "making idiotic changes like Opera or Mozilla". F12 has never been bound to anything before. Copying the hotkey from firebug is fine, since it doesn't have another purpose yet, but you can be a little less demanding and instead offer it as a question or suggestion instead of acting all huffy. Thanks.

Why not made a drink game of this type of posts?
This way we can have something back for a change!

Re: Bring back F12!
We looked into this a bit more - Using F12 would conflict with people who actually use Firebug, so mapping it to the devtools would hamper those users.
Since I'm not really inclined to bake in detection routines into the core for specific extensions (no "special treatment" there), I'll have to investigate if Firebug is actually properly overriding the core key or not. It should, but since they made it a bootstrapped add-on now, it's up in the air if it actually will (thank you, JetPack).

Re: Bring back F12!
Firebug properly overrides F12 in the core (tested with 1.12.8) so there is no issue adding F12 as a toggle key. Expect this to be added in Pale Moon 25.2

Re: Bring back F12!
Well, If I had Firebug installed and then updated PM and F12 disappeared then whose fault is this? I say it's Moonchild's work, not cases of versions of Firefox etc.
Now I see that I can't even install Firebug from Mozilla Addons page as it detects PM as older Firefox than needed.
If I see something deleted after update then I am free to whine - whether here or on twitter. Be ready for this or stop this business.
And DON'T mess with F12. Now it doesn't do anything. What was the point in erasing it? Don't get it.
I don't want CTRL+something+K or whatever. I want Firebug or normal dev tools under F12. WHAT DO I DO? Do I switch to Firefox or something else?

Firebug 2.0 is australis only. Older versions (available down in the addon page, look carefully) work in PM.MiloW wrote:Now I see that I can't even install Firebug from Mozilla Addons page as it detects PM as older Firefox than needed.
The point is that nothing was deleted, F12 was never a shortcut for anything in Pale Moon. Please read the topic.MiloW wrote:If I see something deleted after update then I am free to whine - whether here or on twitter. Be ready for this or stop this business.

Maybe read the topic before posting ? Like, the message just above yours ?MiloW wrote:I want Firebug or normal dev tools under F12. WHAT DO I DO? Do I switch to Firefox or something else?
(And I don't want to sound harsh, but you come, don't read the topic and start whining, that's pretty annoying)
Re: Bring back F12!
Pale Moon 25.2 will introduce F12 for devtools (and that is new functionality as it was never bound to anything before). If you install Firebug (the Pale Moon compatible, non-Australis version 1.12.8) it will "Take over" F12 whenever enabled in the add-on manager.

Re: Bring back F12!
Could you add the option to change or disable the shortcut used for the developer console? I rely heavily on the F12 key for taking screenshots of running applications. I've tried installing Firebug and changing it's shortcut from F12 to Ctrl-F12, but it seems hard-coded to open Firebug. I'd rather not have to disable the developer tools entirely, since I do use them quite often.
Re: Bring back F12!
Why don't you use the system-reserved keys for taking screenshots? PrtScr for full screen screenshot, Alt+PrtScr for the currently active window, etc. or change the screenshot shortcut in your tool you use that maps to F12?

Re: Bring back F12!
Because I use F12 quite often when playing games to save screenshots directly to file, and I use Print Screen for saving saving screenshots to the clipboard for use in image manipulation programs. I use F12 because it's not often used by other programs I use, which until recently included Pale Moon. I would very much appreciate some option or workaround to disable the F12 shortcut without disabling developer tools entirely.

You may need to look at an extension to change or disable shortcuts.

I couldn't find one that worked.Supernova wrote:You may need to look at an extension to change or disable shortcuts.
That worked absolutely perfectly. Could this somehow be implemented as a default part of Pale Moon?SvenG wrote:keyconfig2110522
