Youtube is Now Full Screen

Post by Jive Dadson » 2014-11-05, 15:29

Someone answered this a while back, but I have searched and searched to no avail.

When you put youtube into full screen mode, it displays an annoying banner across the top that tells you what you just did. "Youtube is Now Full Screen", etc.. The message can be quashed with a small style sheet-entry. I lost it to a hard, hard disk failure. (No joy.)

Please someone, tell me again.

i just now discovered it is not only youtube. The banner shows on other website's full-screen videos also. Why can't I find that message?

Anyone?

If you mean with a "banner" the confirmation dialog for applications switching to full-screen, that's an option you can switch off with Pale Moon Commander under User Interface -> Full Screen -> Require per-site approval for full screen globally.

You can also do it per domain by checking the box "remember" for allow/deny.

If that is not what you meant, then please provide a screenshot?

It often looks like the picture you posted, but but not necessarily with the allow/disallow dialog.

I finally tracked down the answer elsewhere. For Flash and Silverlight, it appears that one is pretty much out of luck. For HTML5, there is a config:about setting to be changed. "full-screen-api.approval-required".

Flash does not typically ask or notify in that manor (It did for a little while but users complained and it was removed) Silverlight manages its own its self.. Because those two are and let me be clear.. Are external components aka plugins. The HTML5 video player is provided by the browser only and it sorta operates in a half-assed full screen mode (another reason why the browser shouldn't be in charge of video but there are no better implementation that improve this so..) so the setting of course is IN the browser and tracked by the browser.

This annoys me terribly on Facebook where I regularly press F to watch photos on fullscreen. The problem with the confirmation dialog is that checking "Remember decision..." will not prevent that window from reappearing to just tell you it's going fullscreen. Toggling full-screen-api.approval-required fixes it but that's supposed to be a security measure. I tried to catch it with Element Hiding Helper but seems it doesn't apply here.
