Hi Folks:
I don't know where to appropriately ask this but here goes. First off, I was last a MAJOR FAN of Thunderbird up until the very last 2.x version (I think it was 2.0.0.19). I didn't like the tabbed/indexed approach from v3x thereon in.
Would it be a real labour pain to take 2x code and patch it security wise, but leave the feature set as it was back then? I really miss that mail client. I can't think of anything it did, that I couldn't do today.

That approach would require maintaining not only an obsolete comm-central codebase but it's matching mozilla-central version. We already have a whole mozilla codebase to maintain. So to answer your question .. yes.
