Calendar broke

Post by spartanhooah » 2014-07-28, 01:26

I'm not sure what happened, but I can't use the calendar anymore. I've been using FossaMail for less than a week, and after I set it up, everything was fine. I installed the same extensions I had in Thunderbird (Lightning's 64-bit version, Google Contacts, MinimizeToTray revived, Provider for Google Calendar, and Thunderbird Conversations). However, this evening I went to add an appointment to my calendar, and noticed that the tab wasn't there. I opened the view menu to go to the calendar from there, and it's grayed out. I can click on the calendar icon in the upper right, but when it opens, the bar with "Synchronize", "Event", "Task", etc. has a copy just below itself, so there are two. No buttons on the main calendar view respond - I can click on the miniature calendar and change the month and select days, and I can check or un-check various calendars, but the main view is stuck on the day display and I can't choose a different tab (i.e. week, multiweek, month). I also can't scroll the day view; it's stuck with midnight at the top.

I know I could re-install, but with Google accounts that's kind of a pain I'd like to avoid if possible. Any advice?

If you're using a 64-bit FossaMail, make sure you disable automatic updating of extensions. You were probably served a 32-bit version of Calendar by Mozilla.
Re-install the lightning add-on from the FossaMail website after you have disabled automatic extension updating.

I had the same issue, I found out that Lightning was updated to 2.6.6 which seems to be the latest version for Thunderbird.
Uninstalling that version and downloading the latest from http://www.fosshub.com/FossaMail.html reverted back to version 2.6.5 of Lightning.

After restart everything was back to normal.

It seems that FossaMail is sensitive to version numbers of Mozilla extensions, so it's a tip to disable Auto updates for add-ons.

Hope this helps someone.

Thanks, that solved the problem.
