I've been archiving YouTube videos with Invidious as frontend, via the MozArchiver add-on. I have a Greasemonkey userscript that converts the <video> into <embed> because I prefer playing them in the VLC web plugin. VLC can play the <embed> MP4 fine in the original Invidious https URL, however it can't play it when inside an MAFF archive for some reason. It can play <object> regardless of whether it's inside a MAFF archive or not though, and I did try changing my userscript to use <object> instead of <embed>. Unfortunately I then run into the issue of the video not streaming as it loads, instead I have to wait for the video to fully load (which can be slow because my chosen Invidious instance has a lot of users) in order for it to play (is the browser platform's behavior for <embed> different from <object>?), so that's not a good solution since I do want to stream videos too.

I'm not sure whether this is a problem with MozArchiver or with Pale Moon's handling of <embed>, so I'm putting this post here in Browser Support.
