Upgrading from Basilisk 2022 to v2025.07.04: profile is lost

Post by carly » 2025-08-19, 15:27

Hi,

I used to have an old Basilisk v2022.01.27 installation in Windows 10 x64 that I gave up after the news of discontinuation some years ago. It was running in a path such 'C:\Portable\Basilisk' folder.
I have just discovered Basilisk is live again! So I downloaded that latest 2025.07.04 x64 Windows setup and ran it checking the custom installation: I verified it would be in C:\Portable\Basilisk - again. The basilisk-20250703133404.win64.installer completed the installation regularly.

Result? Now the new Basilisk seems to run from scratch: it did not retain the history, bookmarks etc of the previous 'v2022.01.27' installation. In another words, it is not managing properly the previous profile.

Under Windows 10 x64 Control Panel/Programs & Features, now I can see the latest Basilisk 52.9.2025.07.04 (x64 en-US) installation, on top of two other Basilisk's 52.9.2020.10.28 and 52.9.2019.10.31.

- What I can do in order get a proper '2025' Basilik installation in C:\Portable\Basilisk with the previous 'v2022.01.27' Basilisk settings, please?

(Eventually, I can restore the previous ('2022') C:\Portable\Basilisk' folder from a backup, if needed).

Thank you,
carly

Found the solution!
https://www.basilisk-browser.org/firstrun.html

IMPORTANT!

The vendor name for Basilisk has changed. If you recently updated you may notice that none of your bookmarks or extensions transferred. See the instructions below.

On Windows: Copy %appdata%\Moonchild Productions\Basilisk to %appdata%\Basilisk-Dev\Basilisk

:)

Now, everything is fine. 8-)
