Sub menu
Well, I don't know if it's for here or the Firefox forum. I'm referring to the submenu of the windows Start menu (also in the taskbar):
> Open new tab
> Open new window
> New private window
Is it possible to remove this submenu? I know it's a feature of Mozilla products.

Re: Sub menu
If I understand correctly, what you're looking for is "browser.taskbar.lists.enabled".

I mean the Windows Start menu:
But I'm afraid this is rather a system issue.
Sorry for the bold type, it was just to make it easier to read.

Re: Sub menu
Yes I'm aware.
go to about:config, find the preference I pointed out and double-click it to change its state. That should disable the Windows menu entries.

It's readable just fine without the bold typeface. If you're having issues reading it on your screen then you may want to look into changing the system font size or contrast settings/tweak your truetype settings.it was just to make it easier to read.

Re: Sub menu
browser.taskbar.lists.enabled > false
I did it long ago. What this does is remove recent entries from the Firefox menu.

Not the Start menu or the taskbar.

Re: Sub menu
I'm not sure what you want to achieve.
If set to true, you have (by default) the tab tasks and frequent page shortcuts, filled by Pale Moon.
If set to false, you have recent links/pages opened, which is filled in by the O.S. - how to change that depends on your O.S. (and I don't know off the top of my head)
This affects the taskbar and the start menu/panel

Re: Sub menu
O.S.??? How is that? I use it portable. And I don't want any sub menu. Just the program shortcut.
I'm actually talking about Firefox and all its forks.

Re: Sub menu
That doesn't matter
Well if what you're seeing is not the context menu (as I thought) then I don't know what's going on. The tasks you see there are so-called "windows jump list" tasks that a program can set up through the Windows API. Firefox and forks aren't the only programs making use of this. If you disable the setting I pointed out, jump lists will be disabled.
Also, if you're asking in general about Firefox, then why did you post in the Basilisk board?

Re: Sub menu
Ok, there's no way, you can disable recent items from Windows jump list, but not tasks.
But this depends on the system. The strange thing is that it only happens to me with Basilisk and Thunderbird.
Firefox and other forks (all portable) that I have in the start menu do not have that behavior.
Although, thanks for your help.

Re: Sub menu
There are few preferences that control what is in the jump list.
if you enable them overall, you can control what is included with:
browser.taskbar.lists.frequent.enabled
browser.taskbar.lists.recent.enabled
browser.taskbar.lists.tasks.enabled
If you disable them overall, then the O.S. controls the "recent" list, not the application.

Re: Sub menu
I set all of them false, but nothing changed.
As you say, that controls recent items, but not tasks.

Re: Sub menu
You two are talking past each other?
The OP wants to control what shows up in the Start Menu and Task Bar, not the right-click context menu. It seems like they need Windows advice, not Pale Moon advice...
Re: Sub menu
Not really. The windows start menu, when right-clicking on an "app", as well as right-clicking on the taskbar entries, will show the jumplists if defined. Clearly, OP is getting the jumplist tasks in their windows start menu/panel.
Yup, which is what I said a few times already.
