GameStop.com browsing issue

Post by Tharthan » 2020-11-23, 04:08

I went on GameStop's website to see if they had any reasonably-priced refurbished Game Boy Advance SPs.

I clicked on one such product's image/information
(https://www.gamestop.com/video-games/retro-gaming/game-boy-advance/consoles/products/nintendo-game-boy-advance-sp-gray/10090583.html) and after a short while, it spat out a "ReferenceError: event is not defined" message.

Then after a few moments of a frozen browser, it spat out a busy script message, with the script being:

Code: Select all

https://cdn.quadpay.com/v1/quadpay.js:2
If I let the script continue, the browser would just sit unresponsive.

If I attempt to stop the script, the browser is unresponsive for a moment, and then hangs (leading me to need to close the whole browser).

...

Currently, I am using Pale Moon version 28.15.0 (32-bit) on Windows 7 Home Premium. I also tried to replicate what happened on 64-bit Basilisk. The same thing happened.

The site works fine for me, I am using eMatrix and it is blocking many (14) scripts, including quadpay.

Quadpay is the culprit since I'm using uBlock Origin which by default blocks quadpay and allows me to visit the site without any problems.

At this time I'm using 64 bit linux Pale Moon 28.15.0 running in 64 bit linux Mint 20 (Ulyana) XFCE.

It's a payment processor - so blocking it could hinder online payments. Doesn't matter if you're just browsing the site though.

Quadpay.com doesn't seem to actually cause the problem, even though a quadpay script is referenced in the busy script message.

AFAICS, the problem is triggered by this, from audioeye.com:

Code: Select all

https://wsv3cdn.audioeye.com/scripts/loader.js?r=gamestop.com&d=www.gamestop.com&lang=en&cb=20201111&pscb=54caa5ed1c78fa726e6264825207a8bc&ae_toolbar=undefined

The issue only seems to manifest when scripts from both audioeye.com and sezzle.com (also related to payment processing) are simultaneously allowed.

(Audioeye.com, btw, only appears at least for me if googletagmanager.com was first permitted - people who block the latter domain presumably don't see this problem.)
