Any idea what start.me would have done to change the way the page loads unique to only Pale Moon (and Basilisk)

Post by Pallid Planetoid » 2020-03-21, 00:31

As of the past 2-3 days the start.me page loads in a different way with just two browsers: 1) Pale Moon, 2) Basilisk.

Page does load successfully however -- what is different is what occurs during the page load (see screen-shot).

There is no difference in all other browsers (tested for 7 other browsers) -- all other browsers load as before -- only Pale Moon and Basilisk have been impacted (by whatever start.me has done).

I have logged a request on this with start.me. After they requested the Pale Moon version I have not heard back from them so far.

Any ideas as to what start.me may have done or why in regards the different way the page loads in Pale Moon and Basilisk. Clearly it would have to do with something start.me has done that uniquely impacts only the Pale Moon and Basilisk browsers.

Again, the page does load successfully -- it's just that while loading I get what is illustrated in the screen-shot below (this has been tested on Win10, Win7 and in safe-mode for both systems with same results):
Didn't use to get the scrambled and large character rendering prior to 2-3 days ago.

Please report this to start.me -- i'll also send them a note referring them to this thread (since it's got a screenshot i haven't been able to capture myself -- too fast)
I noticed this as well, the large font placeholders are kind of ugly.

I had reported this to start.me support at 8:45 AM March 19, the morning it stated.

Later that day they replied requesting my Pale Moon version number of which I replied that afternoon. As of this time no reply since that time.

It may take some time. It's the weekend and the Netherlands (where start.me has its principal office) is pretty much on lockdown due to the coronavirus panic.

Start.me has indicated that a fix for this should go live within 30 minutes.
