Downthemall no longer working

It shows up in palemoon, but I can't open it. The manager doesn't work, or nothing works. When I click manager, nothing happens. I tried uninstalling it, and reinstalling it, but the same thing occurs. Yes, it shows up in the bar at the bottom of the screen, However, it doesn't seem to be functioning, and none of the newer versions work with PM.

Try v3.0.8, it works with PM 28.

I was able to install 3.0.8 as is. But it went like so: I chose to install, then was told I had to restart as usual; I did the restart, I was asked a second time if I wanted to install, I agreed and then it quickly said that it had just been installed. All seems to work correctly now, I'm glad I can continue with the known entity of DTA. I also sometimes use the checksum checking, too; I don't know if other software has that feature.

strange. i had DTA 3.0.8 installed since a while, worked fine.

then i updated to PM 28, and DTA vanished. not really, it is still there in the addons, but its manager vanished, as well as any function - it simply does not work.

very similar to the post above: .. shows up in palemoon ... can't open it ... manager doesn't work ... ((it vanished out of the toolbar)) ... tried uninstalling ... reinstalling ... same thing ...

so, what do we do? any hint, any workaround? DTA is for many of us the main, or at least a good reason to stick with PM, so pls dont drop that one.

henry, since everyone(?) seems to have had success upgrading to 3.0.8, you might try installing an earlier version then upgrading

I just upgraded for PM28 from some DTA version from years ago, upgrading to 3.0.8 worked for me anyway.

yep, even stranger: as i said, i had 3.0.8. since about half a year - worked fine. so the update should have simply taken it over.

on the initial view it did: it was there in extensions, there was no error or similar notice - but it did not work. whatever i tried, nothing.

before i saw you note (going back to an older version, then updating to 3.0.8) i tried another thing: i downloaded 3.0.8, and installed it over the already existing 3.0.8.

yes i know, doesnt make much sense - BUT IT WORKED - all is back to normal, all settings are back, even the download history is there.

HAPPY - but what was it? where did PM go wrong with its update? it might be similar with other extensions, and it might be worth it to find out before hundreds of people notice it, and complain.

Thanks, I've been wondering since the update to 28 if we needed another update for DTA to work again, and installing from this link worked for me too.

The Hyperbola Linux distro provides a minor fork of DownThemAll 3.0.8 as part of their Iceweasel-UXP project:

I've found their version to be preferable, because its install manifest has been modified to indicate compatibility with recent versions of Pale Moon, Basilisk and Seamonkey. In Pale Moon, that means that it no longer runs in compatibility mode.

What about Turbo Download Manager? It is faster than DTA anyway. You can get it if you have the Classic Add-ons Archive.

I know this is an old post, but DTA 3.08 stopped working for me today. I can't even open the manager. Never mind., I decided to go with the Turbo thing

Link update: The link to 3.0.8 that I posted last year is no longer valid, hasn't been for a while
(since Mozilla removed all xul extensions from its repository).

Currently, DownThemAll v3.0.8 can be found in these locations:

• SeaMonkey section of addons.thunderbird.net (ATN) : DownThemAll;
• As mentioned above, Hyperbola Project's fork of DownThemAll (also here);
• The xul extension archives:
  Classic Add-ons Archive (install to access catalog); and Legacy Collector website;
• DownThemAll's GitHub repository, tags: 3.0.8
  (for whoever wants to make the xpi from the zipped source code).
