Reader Mode Issues?

Unread post by fatboy » 2018-01-18, 11:36

Good Day Community,

I am running Basilisk on Arch, and am noticing that the reader mode fails to extract text on quite a few websites. The same site works fine with Pale Moon and the Reader Add-on.

Here is an example of a website that works on Pale Moon, but not on Basilisk.

The Readability javascript library is what Reader View (in any Mozilla-based software) uses to do the actual text parsing and rendering. The library version used in Basilisk is probably slightly older than the one used by the Pale Moon add-on. Updating Basilisk to use the current version of the library shouldn't cause any issues, but the decision to do so would be up to the UXP team.

Ah, I misunderstood the bug (and can't test with Basilisk at the moment). My bad.

the example website works for me, however I confirm that problem for so many web sites, that my first and false thought was that reader mode fails completely.

Not sure if my response was all that helpful for this issue, but you're welcome. :P

Thank you GMForker for the Basilisk patch!
