Disabling Large Tabs, Windows 8

Post by slacky » 2012-11-10, 04:47

I am using Windows 8, recently after I installed the new Synaptics touchpad driver, my Palemoon tabs became large :wtf:

It's even like that in firefox.

Does anyone know how to make the tabs smaller again :?:

 Note: The new synaptics driver supports some of the touchscreen gestures on a touchpad. I think it may be doing this by emulating a touchscreen, because even the touch keyboard showed on my desktop after installing it. Tab sizes are normal in chrome, ie; so the resizing is not a windows thing. Could be a Firefox touchscreen optimization.

Hmm your tabsize looks normal. Don't know what your problem is.
It's look like you have many tabs open, so se tabsize is smaller then normal

Random large tabs.

Actually this the normal tab size.

The problem seems to come randomly. So far, the 'large tabs' was shown to me two times. It looks like only the height of the tabs are increased. When they were shown, even restarting palemoon in safemode shows large tabs.

Now I'm not quite sure under what conditions the large tabs are shown. It corrected itself after a computer restart. Next time, I'll check again to verify if a restart solves temporary the problem.

I guess it would make sense for a touch screen to have slightly larger controls for ease of operation with fingertips. I'm not aware of any "special treatment" in the Mozilla code that would cause this, so it's possible that the driver does this by changing window metrics (e.g. to have easier minimize/maximize/close buttons) -- which would put it in the realm of the synaptics configuration to fix.
