Some HTTPS sites I use regularly are failing to load. I'm not sure what it is, but I really don't want to create a new profile if at all possible, but I'm fearing the worst. I downloaded the portable version of 27.4 and they work there, but they don't work in Safe Mode with my normal profile.
The main thing I'm seeing right now is:
An error occurred during a connection to addons.palemoon.org. security library failure. (Error code: sec_error_library_failure)
Again, I'm hoping there's a way out other than a new profile. Any help would be appreciated. Let me know if there's anything else you need to know.

Looks like if I use Pale Moon Commander to disable TLS 1.3 that gets the sites to work, but that's obviously not a desirable fix.

Are you using any software firewall or antivirus that filters HTTPS traffic?

Strange.
TLS 1.3 was added and has been tested with a good number of sites that offer it without any issues (including e.g.
https://www.palemoon.org/). It has not been fully standardized yet, but in general sites that offer it would use the same draft version we do.
Can you provide some examples of sites that give you this error so we can investigate if it's reproducible or not?

The two that I immediately had issues with were:
https://addons.palemoon.org
https://gmail.com
As I said in the OP, I downloaded the portable version of 27.4 and it worked fine, so my fear is that either is something wrong with my (admittedly very old) profile or I have an obscure setting somewhere that messes with it.

I can access both sites using either 64 bit linux Pale Moon 27.4.0 or 32 bit windows Pale Moon (27.4.0). I'm guessing the problem is on your end.
Linux Mint 22 (Wilma) Xfce w/Pale Moon, Waterfox, Firefox
MX Linux 23.4 (Libretto) Xfce w/Pale Moon, Waterfox, Firefox
Linux Debian 12.7 (Bookworm) Xfce w/Pale Moon, Waterfox, Firefox

Those sites also load properly for me using 64-bit Pale Moon (27.4.0) on Windows 7.

I would expect those sites to load -- they were chiefly among those this was tested with
What you can do is restart Pale Moon while holding down SHIFT to call up the recovery window, then select the checkbox to "Reset all preferences to Pale Moon defaults" then "make changes and restart". This will reset all user preferences that may have been inadvertently set to values causing problems. You will have to set some options again that you may have set to non-default values, like your preferred home page, etc.

I also have problems loading many sites. Very often the connection freezes in "Performing TLS handshake" state and never loads. After pressing enter button 3-4 times, it finally loads, but it may don't load at all too. It's very irritating. I have these problems in Arch Linux and Linux Mint. At home and at work, with different networks, profiles and ISP. Please, provide me a link with 27.0.3 version till the problem is fixed, for PM is my main browser and it's very hard to use it.

It is random and doesn't depend on site. It can load them without problem but may don't load them at all. Is someone knows why there aren't old Linux builds on the FTP?

Then you may have system problems and not Pale Moon specific. It doesnt make any difference then which PM version you use

The problem has appeared with 27.4.1, a few days ago, both at work and at home. I don't have this problem with other browsers (FF and Opera) but I don't use them.

By doing this it helps to know if the issue is actually involving Pale Moon or something unique on your end.

I did a little investigation on "WTF? Sites with COMODO certs… hmm… behind CloudFlare falls out with non-informative sec_error_library_failure on Pale Moon"
https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/analyze.html?d=www.howtoforge.com helps to find out a hint "For TLS 1.3 tests, we currently support draft version 18."
So, the root problem is that TLS 1.3 still remains in drafts, but Pale Moon:
1. Tries to use it by default.
2. Implements no fallback to 1.2 in case of error.
* I also didn't found last certs from the same COMODO in the CA-certs list. I suppose the reliable solution is to pull certs from the last firefox branch on each Pale Moon build.
Good luck!
