I Depend on PM - and Needed Some Clarification... Please

Post by rtl88 » 2017-06-20, 16:50

Hi all,

I just wanted say, after switching from SeaMonkey - which I had been using since shortly after their changeover from Mozilla Suite - that I have been highly pleased in every regard - HIGHLY PLEASED. Notably, I must utilize a dark-background-light-text-extension - due to my light-sensitivity issues; and PM's 'Advanced Night Mode' plug-in has allowed me to comprehensively surf, at will, again - thank you!

There was this random thing I saw today, however, and I was hoping to get some feedback regarding it.
The only real forks left are Pale Moon, which is lagging years behind on web standards support due to how much it's diverged; and Seamonkey, whose volunteer maintainers are already struggling to keep up. With the impending death of XUL neither are likely to survive the winter - not a very good advertisement for the platform.

Thank you, again, for giving me back my benchmark, Mozilla browsing experience!!

Clearly not a representation of our current state of affairs.
We're not "years behind on web standards", unless, of course, you consider all the editor's drafts that are out there that cater to gadget use and not real browsing to be "standards".

Also, just because we've diverged doesn't mean that development has stopped the moment we forked off. Far from it -- and if (real) standards issues are pointed out, we're usually quick to respond and make the browser compliant with them.

My first computer was an I-286 - back in the mid 1980s; and I have been using browsers since Netscape Navigator launched in the mid 1990s. That being said, I have tried a few dozen, since then; and out of all of them, I am probably the most impressed with today’s Pale Moon. :D

Thanks for the feedback; I have to wonder why people put out irresponsible info like that - and so matter-of-factually. I mean, what do they have to gain, anyway...

There is a "Rumor control" article, which clarifies many aspects. Enjoy the reading
