Cookie bug?

Post by AnotherSignup » 2017-01-25, 13:46

Since updating to v27.0.3 (testing it out), the browser is now automatically accepting cookies from youtube.com, despite the fact that I have changed none of my cookie settings, and that cookies from the domain are expressly blocked. If I remove the listing from Exceptions to see the cookie prompt again, I tick remember and deny and cookies are blocked ... until the next reload of the browser, where it will again accept cookies from youtube.

I don't have my browser set to automatically clear anything on close. I have changed no settings from the last 26x version.

I think I've figured it out.

Looking at the cookie that keeps appearing, I noted it is named .youtube.com which struck me as odd. Note the leading dot. It is not a youtube cookie. Youtube cookies are merely set as youtube.com. I've been trying out an addon, Youtube HD, and so I removed it - no more .youtube.com cookies. Really annoying that an addon adds cookies which completely ignore privacy settings (i.e. circumvent prompting to store).

maybe blocking all cookies and whitelisting sites is an option.
