After installing Pale Moon 27.0.2 (x86) on Windows 7 SP1 64-bit. I have a minor problem with displaying the button from the extension User Agent Overrider 0.2.4.1-signed (the latest version that works with Pale Moon 26 and 27, from https://addons.mozilla.org/en-Us/firefo ... /versions/).
So far as I can tell, the extension is working correctly (I checked it using http://www.useragentstring.com/) but when it is switched off (not disabled) by clicking the toolbar button, the button (and the dropdown options immediately to the right of the button) is no longer visible on the toolbar. With PM 26.5 and earlier, the button was greyed when switched off, but now it is completely invisible. The button is still there - if I mouse-over it I get a status ("User Agent Overrider not working now") and if I click where the button is it turns back on (and becomes visible/blue as expected), so it looks like there some problem rendering the greyed-out button.
The problem can be reproduced by installing PM 27.0.2 on a new machine - with no existing PM profile - using the default configuration and installing User Agent Overrider. Note that User Agent Overrider 0.2.4.1 is the most recent version that works with PM 26 and 27, and it did work correctly in PM 26.5.0 (and apparently works correctly in PM 27 except for the display issue).
I am aware that I can tweak the UA string per-site via about:config. I am also aware that I can set the compatibility mode in Tools Options, and in fact what I actually do is configure User Agent Overrider to match the string produced by the Tools Options setting(s). The reason I use this extension is that:
-- Usually I turn off this extension and PM's compatibility mode option - I want the world to know that I'm using Pale Moon.
-- Occasionally I go to a website that doesn't work properly because it does not recognize the browser. I might only go to this site once or twice, so I don't want to bother setting a per-site UA string in about:config. I want to switch on Firefox (or now possibly Gecko) compatibiliy mode quickly and easily - clicking a button on the toolbar is much easier than going into Tools Options. Importantly, I want to be able to readily see that I am faking the UA string, so that I remember to turn it off when I'm done with that site - the tool bar button does this, whereas the Tools Options does not.
