Does an uninstall leave remnants?

Post by ron_1 » 2016-11-14, 15:02

My apologies if this has been asked and answered already. When using the Linux PM installer to UNinstall PM, does it remove everything, or does it leave some remnants like the typical Windows uninstall?

I know there's the folder in /opt and /home; are there any others anywhere else? (For some reason my search function doesn't find the moonchild folder in home, even though I have it set to show hidden files. I use Mint Mate 18, 64 bit.)

The installer will remove the folder from /opt, but will leave the folder in /home containing the profile.

Thanks trava90. So there aren't any other folders elsewhere?

i believe leaving the profile folder in the home directory is a good idea as any future reinstall will have all your settings intact.i see no reason to uninstall palemoon at this present time. :)

I'm not uninstalling Pale Moon. I asked this in anticipation for the release of version 27 (which I hope is soon). I'm planning on doing a 100% clean install, so I needed to know where every PM folder is located so I can delete them prior to installing version 27. (I always do a clean install with a new major version release, even going back to my Windows days.)
