Does Pale Moon support building under uclibc?

Unread post by Walter Dnes » 2016-04-29, 02:20

Should I even bother trying to build under uclibc, let alone filing bugs if/when builds fail?

While I've never tried it and don't know if it will work or not, feel free to try!

Not looking good. First, I had to disable gstreamer due to a known issue with uclibc... https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=577312 A fix is in the works.

Next, internal jemalloc dies (malloc.txt.gz). Disable that, and get another error (finite.txt.gz). See attached gzipped build logs.

One more piece of info... that was 26.2_Atom_RelBranch I was trying to build. Yes, it's running "-march=native", but I stick with just the "Atom" source to simplify things on my desktop system. I.e. I have only one "pmsrc" source directory to manage across the host desktop, and a couple of QEMU VM's. Each VM has a "native" and an "Atom" directory. Symlinks are nice. :D I use rsync to keep things in sync.

This pet project of mine is going on hold for a few weeks. The Gentoo developer in charge of the Gentoo-uclibc effort is unhappy with the state of uclibc. So much so, that he's working on migrating Gentoo uclibc to the "uclibc-ng" fork http://www.uclibc-ng.org/ Once the uclibc-ng-based Gentoo tarballs show up, I'll install in a QEMU VM and also on my ancient netbook. Then I'll try building Pale Moon on uclibc-ng

Look forward to seeing the result!
