Pages not rendering correctly (Pale Moon 26.0.2)

Post by yetanotherid » 2016-02-22, 15:14

I've experienced this problem quite a few times, but only now decided to report it so I haven't previously noted any details. I'm fairly sure it's happened on other sites but I'm not 100% certain. It's not a Pale Moon specific problem because it's worse when using Firefox 24. I'm not sure which sites it's happened at previously or if it'll continue to happen for this one, so I'm posting screenshots.

Here's a link to the page in question.
http://www.x264bluray.com/home/1080i-p

When opening it in Pale Moon it appears to initially render correctly, and in fact if I click "stop" before the page finishes loading, it stays that way, so it looks like this:

If I let the page finish loading, it looks like this:

Once the page has loaded as per the second image, reloading it doesn't get it to temporarily render correctly again. The only way to achieve that is to close the tab and reload the page again in a fresh tab.
The only other browser I can test with at the moment is IE7 running on XP, and for it, there's no issue.
The reason I describe the problem as being worse for Firefox is because the page doesn't initially render correctly so there's no opportunity to stop it loading before it displays like the second image above. I've tested the page with all extensions disabled and the result is exactly the same.

Initially I thought it might be an ISP problem but it seems odd it displays correctly in IE7 if that was the case.
I'm 99% sure I've experienced the same problem when running Pale Moon 25, so I don't think it's an issue specific to version 26.

Thanks.

Edit 1: I just realised if I refresh the page in IE7 it appears to load twice. The first time successfully but the second time I've seen an "error on site" message flash quickly in the status bar, so maybe it's a site error from which IE7 can recover but Pale Moon/Firefox do not.

Edit 2: I've now noticed if I let the page fully load, so it appears to load twice, the site address changes (to docs.google), so maybe it is just a site error. I don't know for sure though, but I've experienced the problem quite a few times, and given I've already come this far to report it......

A quick, unrelated question while I'm here, If I may?

Why do many of the forum pages here have "(1)" at the beginning of the page name? Like this:

Thanks.

The raw javascript blurb (look at the address bar) is some file from Google Docs - you were automatically navigated away from the site you initially visited.
You may want to check for any malware that may try to redirect you to other addresses intent on having you enter login data (since a google docs URL would likely be abused with Forms to pretend to be a login screen).

As for the (1): That is the number of unread notifications on the forum you have.

I don't think it's malware. Unless my router/modem has somehow been infected. I just checked that site with Pale Moon running on a fairly fresh Linux install and it's doing exactly the same thing. I guess it must be a site issue. Or an ISP one. Or some sort of Google glitch. This site is doing exactly the same thing, but.....

At the moment, these pages are fine:
https://sites.google.com/site/qaacpage/home
https://sites.google.com/site/qaacpage/ ... /hierarchy
https://sites.google.com/site/qaacpage/ ... entChanges

These.... not so much.
https://sites.google.com/site/qaacpage/cabinet
https://sites.google.com/site/qaacpage/junk
https://sites.google.com/site/qaacpage/news

No one else can duplicate it??

Sometimes when I load the three problem pages above in IE7 it;s fine. Sometimes it appears to be redirecting, and I see a few addresses that appear to be Google related flash on the status bar, but then it stops. If I open the error dialogue, I get the following. I can't resize it or copy and paste it, so I'll have to go with a couple of screenshots. Does it mean anything to you?
