site www.grubhub.com does not render properly

Unread post by barjones » 2015-12-09, 14:16

When visiting www.grubhub.com, the website does not display properly (It basically just shows a gray box).
This website does work in firefox.

I'm using version 25.8.1 on Linux.

Thanks in advance for any help/advice. I can provide more info as needed.

I'm unable to reproduce on Windows -- moving this to the Linux board.

I'm unable to reproduce as well on Manjaro Linux with PM 25.8.1.

Have you tried disabling your add-ons or safe mode?

Okay i tried the site myself and it indeed just shows a grey box initially.I use ublock origin with pale moon and upon disabling ublock the site renders just fine.
A blocked script would appear to be the problem but i never narrowed it down to see which one.

I am using PM 25.8.1 on Xubuntu 12.04 at present.

I have the same add-ons on both PM and FF42 and in viewing the site on both I can see no difference between the page rendering.

Strangely with NoScript blocking scripts from grubhub.com I see the site but allowing scripts from grubhub.com to run I can see only the gray box.
I have uBlock Origin also, but disabling that makes no difference to my Xubuntu page rendering, but chances are Moonraker and I have different options set in uBlock hence producing different results with that add-on!

Tried on PM 25.8.1 x64 in Fedora Linux and the page renders as it should.
I'm using Adblock Latitude instead of uBlock Origin.

I have tried to narrow down which script was causing the grey screen. It appears a script by the name of ajax.googleapis.com being blocked was the issue.Upon allowing this the site renders.

Thanks everyone.
I do use ublock-origin. I tried with it disabled and still got the gray screen.
I also tried in safe mode and still got the gray screen.
Eventually I selected the "reset pale moon options to the defaults", and that fixed the problem.
I'm only speculating, but I guess safe-mode does not necessarily put Pale Moon into an entirely clean state, there must
have been some non-default option I had set that was causing the problem.

I had a different issue that was being caused by something similar. Turned out to be my cookie policy, which safe mode did not temporarily reset to default. There are definitely some settings that are not reverted (temporarily or otherwise) when browsing in safe mode. However, that is not to say that it's a bug- it may well be the intended behavior. Something for us both to keep in mind when troubleshooting any future problems that may come up, though! :)

Thinking back I don't know why one of us didn't suggest clearing the cache and deleting any associated cookies.

Always a recommended first procedure in troubleshooting a browser problem with a site!
