NetFlix User-Agent

Unread post by troypulk » 2015-11-19, 02:26

My distro does not have Pipelight and I read that in netflix you have an option to use HTML5 but I need to add general.useragent.override for Netflix.

So what does the general.useragent.override.netflix.com need to look like?

This one is for Palemoon to be FF - Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:42.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/42.0

What does it need to be to fake out netflix that PM is IE?

Thanks

Well, I tried this:

Code: Select all

general.useragent.override.netflix.com Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; Trident/7.0; rv:11.0) like Gecko
This means Windows 7 with IE 11

It works to fool Netflix and the notice to install Silverlight doesn't come up.

But the screen just goes black, I haven't used Netflix before, once you click on the play button what happens next? how long is it suppose to take to load a movie?

Also, can someone using Internet Explorer and Netflix post what their User Agent is?

What else is needed to play Netflix?

Thanks

I just read that it doesn't work in FF because it doesn't support "Encrypted Media Extensions"

So the question is how to enable this in PM?

Pale Moon does not include EME support. Check out this announcement. Also, a forum search for EME will provide additional information as well.

Well now the big answer is this, will they continue support for Silverlight plugin?

It sounds like they plan to drop Silverlight soon (see this post).

here is the one that works in firefox. copy and paste commands into terminal from Installing the repository prepare apt-get section of the article. use left and right arrow keys to ok installs.

netflix runs as clear and smooth as it does in windows 7 w/this install.
