PM4Linux - Windows-style app menu button (screenshots)
I've finally succeeded in porting Pale Moon's blue app menu button to Pale Moon for Linux, and I think it adds a lot to the browser's aesthetics. Some screenshots:

The results look great, will you be sharing this as an extension or other way?

Sure, I'd be happy to share; I think I'll actually turn this into an extension. Unless Moonchild would be interested in including the code with the browser core..x-15a2 wrote:The results look great, will you be sharing this as an extension or other way?

All right then, here's a preview (I hope that's OK with the forum administrator). Let me know what you think!
Edit: The "Blue Moon Linux" extension is now available on the Pale Moon add-ons site, so I have removed the preview.

Thanks, I'm glad you like it!
By the way, I have made some minor adjustments, so I have attached a new version of the .xpi with my previous post.

Nice work
Maybe you should consider submitting it to the addons website?

Good idea, I will contact Tobin about that!

I actually would be interested, but starting it off as an extension is a good ideaAntonius32 wrote:Sure, I'd be happy to share; I think I'll actually turn this into an extension. I totally agree with Moonchild.
This could be an (optional) extension.
It should NOT be a PM "built-in" feature.
It might conflict with other extensions
which run OK right now in PM.
For ex.,
many of us run the excellent "All-in-One Sidebar" extension.
You don't want to mess it up.
To avoid conflicts w/other PM addons,
you can make an (optional) extension,
and PM users might want to try it -
but DO NOT build it inside PM...

- Pale Moon 25.2.0 and FF 34
- Ubuntu Linux 12.04 (32-bit)

Re: PM4Linux - Windows-style app menu button (screenshots)
Well, whatever you think is best. As far as I'm concerned, the .xpi that's attached on the previous page is ready for release; the only thing left to do would be to change the version number from "1.0pre3" to "1.0"...Moonchild wrote:I actually would be interested, but starting it off as an extension is a good idea

Go right ahead as far as I'm concerned. I haven't had time to look at the code to see exactly what you did and if it'd be easy to adopt into the core without compromising UI compatibility, but I certainly will.Antonius32 wrote:Well, whatever you think is best. I don't think an optional AppMenu UI choice would mess up anything -- unless you have evidence of a direct conflict? Please let me know the details in that case.SfdudePM wrote:For ex.,

All right, the final version is up (on the first page of this topic).
@Tobin: How would I go about submitting my extension to the Pale Moon add-ons site?

Re: PM4Linux - Windows-style app menu button (screenshots)
I think this button is a good idea.
But as an optional addon,
not built into the PM core.
Please,
follow my reasoning as a User:
Screenshots (above),
only show the button with only 1 Tab open.
But many people
work with a lot of open Tabs .
I do, frequently!.
If built into the PM core,
this button would take valuable space in a crowded Tab bar.
The text in each open Tab
gets shorter and shorter
the more Tabs you have open = hard to identify which Tab to click
when you have many Tabs open.
This is why I think
this new button in the Tab bar,
should be an optional addon,
not built into the PM core.
Hope this makes sense to you...

Re: PM4Linux - Windows-style app menu button (screenshots)
If built into the core, it would be a choice, just like on Windows. If you wouldn't want it, you wouldn't have to use it.
