Best Kernel?
I have noticed how incredibly sluggish and unresponsive PM4Linux x64 is with this new kernel (3.18.0-generic). Is there a specific kernel that is recommended by MoonChild for the efficient running of Pale Moon? I have since upgraded to 3.18.1-generic with slight but not significant improvement.

Re: Best Kernel?
Pale Moon should be compatible with any kernel 2.6 or higher. I'm not sure what has changed in the 3.18 release. Did you have this problem with previous kernels? Could you give us some more information regarding your system details (PM version, distro, x64 or x86, add-ons installed, graphics driver, etc.)?
Also, as X said, please try starting the browser in safe mode as well and see if that makes a any difference.

Re: Best Kernel?
FWIW, I've been running the 3.17.x kernels for a month or so. Recently went for the 3.18.0-x and yesterday upgraded to 3.18.1-x. All downloaded from: ==> http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/
There has been _no_ degradation of performance in Pale Moon 25.1.0 (x64) for me.
Running on Linux Mint 17.1 64-bit on a Laptop
Intel i5 proc and graphics
4 GB RAM
Pale Moon 25.1.0 (x64) is my default browser
w/ 18+ addons installed
.

Re: Best Kernel?
Have since removed a few add-ons, perhaps these YouTube video downloaders were hogging resources?
Otherwise I'm not sure what's doing it because it works just fine on my laptop and other desktop machines.
Thanks for your suggestions, I'll keep on looking for the cause.

Re: Best Kernel?
@IanDSamson, are you also using the low-latency kernel on your other machines?
@martywd, are you using the generic or low-latency kernel?

Re: Best Kernel?
No, I was only 'evaluating' the lowlatency kernel. Have since returned to 3.13.0-37-generic and PM appears to be behaving now.
Re: Best Kernel?
I'm running the Generic kernel(s). Only because 3.17.xxxx and 3.18.xxx are handling Suspend/Hibernate and backlight issues that 3.13 and 3.16 are not on my Laptop. 'Bleeding edge' kernels downloaded from ==> http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/ , BTW.trava90 wrote:

I posted another answer earlier but... it blackholed for some reason? So try, try, again ...

Re: Best Kernel?
Hmm, looks like it has something to do with the lowlatency kernel.
@IanDSamson, perhaps you could try the 3.18.1-generic and give that a go, see if there are any performance differences for you vs the lowlatency? I will try to do that myself as well this weekend, if I have time.

Re: Best Kernel?
@trava90: I have removed the "low latency" kernel and installed 3.18.1-generic, and everything appears fine now. I was told that the "low latency" kernel is better for those who use many codecs as I do in audio/video editing, but that does not appear to be true.

Re: Best Kernel?
There are people who say that, but most of what I read from around the web it seems that YMMV (Your Mileage May Vary) when using low latency kernels, and that appears to be the case here.IanDSamson wrote:I was told that the "low latency" kernel is better for those who use many codecs as I do in audio/video editing, but that does not appear to be true.
Glad Pale Moon is working for you again!

Just curious, did you notice any performance improvement when audio/video editing with the low latency kernel?
