How to enable "Permanently store this exception" checkbox

Post by KSAKS » 2026-08-05, 06:47

Guys I have a quick question. PaleMoon version is 34.3.2 x64. How to enable the "Permanently store this exception" checkbox for SSL certificate exceptions? I remember I have it enabled before on my old profile, but now I cannot find how to enable this.
I know what I'm doing and I know the risks. I just need this enabled to have control on some specific cases. Here is the screenshot what I need enabled:

If this control is disabled then there is normally a good reason for it. Without more details it's difficult to say exactly which rule is being broken here, but it's only disabled if permanently storing the exception would cause considerable security risks.

Thank you for reply Moonchild. This certificate is expired. That is the reason. I'm using here some non standard way to direct access something to bypass Cloudflare checks. So I cannot report this to website owner. It is just for auto checking something and avoid the need to enable cookies and JS and. And yes as I have written I know the risks (there are 0 in this case for me) and I know what I'm doing. I just need some way how to enable this. It is fine if this is disabled by default, but there should be some way for power users to enable it if needed. So is there some way? Or I need to somehow manually import this cert to perm trusted?

Do you have private browsing mode enabled? That checkbox will be disabled if you're in PB, because permanent TLS/SSL exceptions are not kept in that mode.

Yes, I have it enabled, but that was the way I've been always using Pale Moon. And as I mentioned above on old profile I've been able to add the permanent exceptions. But that was few years ago. And I'm really not sure if something changed in Pale Moon or I've changed something back then in the config.

So what do you guys suggest if I need to add this exception permanently? Import it manually? If so, what is the best way how to do this?

I've solved it by temporary disabling the private mode, creating the permanent exception, restoring the profile files and manually copying the cert_override.txt to the Pale Moon profile folder. Seems to be working as needed.
