Re: Cloudflare Verification Loop issues

@ biopsin

I had to do some updates earlier this morning for 64 bit MX Linux 25.1 (Infinity) Xfce and 64 bit Debian 13.4 (Trixie) Xfce. I am typing this post on my old 14", HP dv4-5113cl laptop computer which originally came with 64 bit Windows 7 Home Premium. It is now running 64 bit MX Liniux 25.1 (Infinity) Xfce. The motherboard in it is dated (05/02/2012).

I also am now using the newest, at the time of this post, 64 bit (GTK2) linux Pale Moon (34.2.1). This old computer can handle AVX build. You can see this below in my specifications.

But this old laptop can get to 4chan because it can handle an AVX build which you can see below.

Cloudscam keeps looping on 4chan,
I'm just curious.

I can get to 4 chan without even encountering CF. But the address I use to get to it is below and it takes me less than half a second of time to do so.

https://4chan.org/

Are some of you who cannot get to the site using a different website address. Or is this due to some of you using old hardware while also using SSE2 builds? My desktop tower computer can use quite a few diffferent builds including AVX and (AVX2).
I also have old hardware running "Windows 7 - 32-bit". I'm using the "32-bit" version of "Pale Moon 34.2.0" downloaded from https://www.palemoon.org/download.shtml

The Cloudflare check at https://4chan.org/ is also running on my end, and Pale Moon doesn't pass the check there either. Additionally, the 4chan.org page with the Cloudflare check looks different from the other pages with Cloudflare checks that I've tested. Certain elements, such as "Ray ID", are missing.

Note: I have no issues accessing the page https://4chan.org/ using the add-on "Bypass Cloudflare with Backup Browser Cookies".

@ tellu-white

I am not using the extension you are using to get to 4chan. I have only two extensions installed in my linux Pale Moon and they are uBlock Origin 1.16.6.1 and Zoom Label (1.3). I am also using the newest 64 bit (GTK2) linux Pale Moon 34.2.1 which was released earlier this morning.

I can get to 4chan in my previous post (before your last post) where you can see my old 2012 laptop which can handle AVX and shows 4chan in my most recent attachment.

Now comes something you (and others) might not want to hear. But if you (and others) still cannot get to 4chan with the extension you want to use, then you (and others) might have to "bite the bullet" and use a different browser other than Pale Moon if your Pale Moon cannot get to 4chan. This is the short of it.

The 4chan check passes normally here on W10/SSE2, but if you are always clearing cookies/cache then of course you are going to have to pass the test every single time you visit the website, increasing your chances of breaking the check and perhaps even getting blacklisted for some time. I don't know. I always maintain cookies for CF-protected websites for smooth operation. I don't want to waste all day on Cloudflare checks.

However, I have spotted at least one website where even that is not enough. They have set the CF check to be even more aggressive, "Verifying" you almost on every single visit/session, whether you are logged in and keeping cookies or not. The check can even occur while you are typing a forum message, and of course losing it in the process!

Windows 7 remains a question mark for Cloudflare/Pale Moon. I can't test that.

I can't verify 32-bit potential issues now due to SSE2 (no win32/SSE2 build available I think) but anyone with an AVX CPU can make a quick test with latest Pale Moon Portable 32-bit.

I can access https://4chan.org/ (and other CF gatekept sites) plus I use flash NPAPI. I use https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/palemoon (which still uses gtk2).

In order for me to post something, I was asked to give that site my email address to continue. I do "not" want to give that site my email address. Hypothetically speaking, I'd rather "lurk" on that site just by reading other users comments.

But I would not really lurk on that site since I am not interested in that site.

Since we seem to be going in circles, I downloaded the portable version of Pale Moon 32-bit, and I can pass the WineHQ.org cloudflare challenge (vanilla profile). So, there must be something else Tellu-White and Biopsin have in common. VPN? Non-VPN Time-zone location (India/Russia?), Win 7?

I think you misunderstood the point of my posts. I CAN access 4chan in Pale Moon using my add-on "Bypass Cloudflare with Backup Browser Cookies". That doesn't mean the current situation - where I can access 4chan ONLY with this add-on - is normal. That's why I got involved in this discussion.

I clear my cookies all the time, but that's not why the Cloudflare verification isn't working for me. As I've mentioned in other posts, the websites I visit daily don't use Cloudflare. At one point, I wanted to search for something on https://www.portablefreeware.com/ and I was blocked by Cloudflare on my first attempt. So there could be no question of "increasing my chances of breaking the check and perhaps even getting blacklisted for some time".

Notes: Cloudflare doesn't know that I've deleted the cookies because, before accessing the page in question, the add-on loads the cookies saved in the "prefs.js" file back into Pale Moon (the page loads directly without triggering Cloudflare's verification). Furthermore, when I developed the add-on "Bypass Cloudflare with Backup Browser Cookies", the Cloudflare check didn't work in Pale Moon for quite some time. I ran quite a few tests with the add-on before reaching its final version, and even then I never encountered a situation where I was "blacklisted" by Cloudflare. This is normal, considering that Cloudflare doesn't detect browser switching when I use the Firefox "user agent" in Pale Moon along with cookies saved by Firefox.

Also, I don't "waste all day on Cloudflare checks" because I clear my cookies all the time. I use my add-on "Bypass Cloudflare with Backup Browser Cookies" when the Cloudflare check doesn't work in Pale Moon, and my add-on "Bypass Cloudflare with Saved Cookies" when it works.

I don't use a VPN, and my location is the same ( Romania - European Union ) as it was when I didn't have any issues with the Cloudflare checks. Also, prior to this situation, I haven't had any issues with the Cloudflare checks except when all Pale Moon users were having this problem.

Well the only thing Im testing is a selfbuilt PM with disabled npapi since I unwillingly moved to gtk3... Im in norway without vpn.
voidlinux_x64 glibc-2.41 / compiled latest Palemoon (gcc-14.2.1) / GTK3

And where there is no intelligence there is no stupidity.

Tellu-white, it is assumed in this topic that your extension is not being used. Let's not mix and confuse things.

Obviously, your extension changes the situation dramatically and in a positive way, but we are trying to understand the standard Cloudflare behaviour on Pale Moon here. Having the extension in the mix does not help with troubleshooting, especially since it makes CF think PM is FF.

The current CF status is that it's supposed to be working - and for most people, it is.

I'm also in Europe (Sweden) though using a VPN (location SWE currently), so we can rule out 32-bit and location.. hmm

But if you (and others) still cannot get to 4chan with the extension you want to use, then you (and others) might have to "bite the bullet" and use a different browser other than Pale Moon if your Pale Moon cannot get to 4chan. This is the short of it.

Tellu-white, it is assumed in this topic that your extension is not being used. Let's not mix and confuse things.
The current CF status is that it's supposed to be working - and for almost everyone, it is.

You see, back2themoon, comments like Night Wing's above make "mixing things" a good idea.

If Cloudflare really works for almost everyone, I think I should mind my own business and stop bothering people here.

No need to take things personally. We are all trying to help here and you are not bothering anyone.

My suggestion: everyone who has 100% confirmed Cloudflare issues, even on clean profiles, please post your about:support information or use this template.

There's no other way to find some possible shared/common triggers.

You still cannot exclude that the Cloudflare tool won't get confused, if you visit certain websites with cookies set by your extension, and other websites without such cookies, still using the exact same browser from the same location.

Also, keep in mind that CF keeps changing this thing, so what might have worked yesterday can easily break today.

So for the record : Selfbuild gtk3 with --disable-npapi, new profile, vanilla config, no extensions.
CF will enter a neverending loop even on their own support page where they have CF protected "Was this page helpful" to leave a comment..

You still cannot exclude that the Cloudflare tool won't get confused, if you visit certain websites with cookies set by your extension, and other websites without such cookies, still using the exact same browser from the same location.
First of all, Cloudflare check no longer works for me on any website, so I access all websites that use Cloudflare check using the add-on "Bypass Cloudflare with Backup Browser Cookies". Therefore, there is no risk for the "Cloudflare tool" to "get confused".

Second, when I use the add-on "Bypass Cloudflare with Backup Browser Cookies" with cookies taken from Firefox, those pages open directly, without triggering Cloudflare check. This behavior is identical to a scenario where Cloudflare doesn't even exist. To prove this statement, I ran some tests ( with https://www.portablefreeware.com/ ) in which I intercepted "WebRequest" using the JavaScript file "get_all_requests_for__challenges_cloudflare_com.uc.js" placed in "chrome" folder.

get_all_requests_for__challenges_cloudflare_com.uc.js

// var pattern_get_all_challenges_cloudflare_com_URLs = new MatchPattern(["<all_urls>"]);

var pattern_get_all_challenges_cloudflare_com_URLs = new MatchPattern("https://challenges.cloudflare.com/*");

WebRequest.onBeforeRequest.addListener( get_all_requests_for__challenges_cloudflare_com, { urls: pattern_get_all_challenges_cloudflare_com_URLs } );

In the first test, I used MatchPattern = https://challenges.cloudflare.com/*, and in the second test, I used MatchPattern = all_urls. The test results were written to the file "challenges_cloudflare_com__requests.txt" in the new folder "requests_for__challenges_cloudflare_com" created by JavaScript in the folder "Profiles\XXXXXXX.default".

When I used MatchPattern = https://challenges.cloudflare.com/* there were no "WebRequests", and when I used MatchPattern = all_urls there were no "WebRequests" to the Cloudflare servers.

EDIT:

Important !

If you're using a Javascript file with the .uc.js "extension" in the "chrome" folder (such as "get_all_requests_for__challenges_cloudflare_com.uc.js"), you need to copy the following CSS code into "userChrome.css" file in order for the code in that Javascript file to be activated:

Code: Select all

Telu (with a single L) was the name of the dog of one of my grandparents - when I was just a little boy.
He was a white dog of large size and very friendly.

In order for me to post something, I was asked to give that site my email address to continue.
No way! There's something going on on your system.
Yes, way. When I was ready to submit a comment, a pop-up occurred asking me to submit my email address. And I declined. And that is when I left the site.

BTW, there is nothing going with my system. After all, I am not the one having problems.
