I hope this is the right place for this post. In both Tangerinemoon and Tangomoon there are some weird dots between the address bar and the search bar. I'm pretty sure they were never there before. It looks even more pronounced when adding a light theme. Theme versions 3.3.2 (both), and Pale Moon SSE2/GTK2 33.9.1.

This is a splitter, it is styled by your GTK theme. It indicates the area can be resized.

But it doesn't show in Fox 2 the Moon.

And I'm sure it also didn't in Tangerinemoon and Tangomoon or I would have never have used them as much as I have in the past.

if it's gtk styled then this styling depends on what gtk widget theme you are using

Okay, I'll experiment with different gtk themes and see what happens (when I have some free time). Apparently I was using a different one in the past.

But the question then becomes, if the gtk theme is responsible for those dots, why aren't they showing with Fox 2 the Moon?

Fox 2 the Moon styles everything and so there might be a particular change in how it styles that widget compared to the default theme. By contrast, Tangerinemoon and Tangomoon inherit their global styling from the default theme for whichever platform they run on, so you probably also see this on the default theme.

These themes literally do not provide the styling for that widget.

Okay, so there are a couple of gtk themes where those dots don't show in Tangerinemoon and Tangomoon. In those themes there's less space between the address bar and search bar (the bars are so close to each other that maybe the dots are there, but are obscured?). Anyway, now I know what gtk themes to use if I want to switch to either Tangerinemoon or Tangomoon.

If you want the same styling as Fox 2 The Moon, you could use this styling in Stylem or similar:

Code: Select all

splitter {
  -moz-appearance: none !important;
  border-width: 0 2px !important;
  min-width: 6px !important;
}

Aeromoon, Compact Moon, DarkPitch, Fox 2 The Moon, LittleMoon, Maxi3, Maxi4, MicroMoon, Moonola, Nauticalia, Noia Moon, Opresto, PMChrome, PMOpera, Qute 4 PM, Qute Large, Qute Legacy, reinheit, Tangerinemoon, Tangomoon, White Moon and XMoon have been updated. This is mostly to support the upcoming Pale Moon 34, but also adds in styling for Windows 11 where necessary, for Pale Moon 34 specifically, as this version will use its own @media query for Windows 11 rather than relying on the Windows 10 one.

I should also take this time to say it's now over 10 years that I've been supporting these themes! Thanks for the support over the years, I've appreciated it. :) How it's flown already... :coffee:

(Technically 14 if you count Kempelton Reloaded... ;) )
