Damn! Missed an opportunity there!

One other thing - any current users of Downthemall! should uninstall it before switching to this one, else there will be weird UI inconsistencies. It uses the same preferences internally, so your settings and downloads list should get ported over unchanged.

Can you add to description of extension information about what exactly it does? Searching description of original extension is an option, but not exactly convenient.

It's a download manager. The category it's in on the addons page should give you a clue. The original was always in the top 5 most downloaded Firefox extensions back in the day after Adblock Plus, and it still has a web extensions version that lacks some of the features that this one has.

While it might seem obvious to you, not everyone used DtA (some people don't use add-ons period). Just saying "it's a fork of x", without saying what x is, isn't a good way to describe any add-on, or any software in general. It's like having the content of palemoon.org simply be "it's a Firefox fork" (it's obviously a lot more than that, but regardless).

You need to describe your add-on as if in a bubble where nobody had heard of DtA before. You can still say it's forked from it, but at least describe what it is you're offering to people.

Seems reasonable. They may never know this extension is what is missing in their life if they don't know what all it does.

Yeah, after Tharthan's suggestion I had even envisaged an icon like a Pokemon ball but blue instead of red, but the last thing we need are cease and desist orders from these companies even if one isn't making any money off of this.

But I am glad someone is developing tihs addon.

I've only changed the target application to Pale Moon (and added Borealis), apart from the branding where Tobin very nicely made the new icons. It's a credit to the original authors as well as the XUL/XPCOM technology that it works so well. Now as I recall the original version even targeted Thunderbird, so next I'll test it with Interlink and if possible release it for that too.

I don't think so. Nintendo and the Pokemon Company both go to excessive lengths to enforce their IP.. Of course they have the right but when you go to the depths of like when Disney sued the fuck out of a child daycare that had Mickey Mouse hand painted on a wall.. Yeah.

Thanks for the info though. I did assume disney had some issues regarding the way they treat their employees, but I didn't realize they went that far to enforce their Intellectual property.
