Status bar options

Unread post by LuftWafflePilot » 2021-02-22, 18:36

I remember I used to have what I vaguely remember as transparent status bar that normally showed links on mouse over and the progress bar when there was something going on long time ago.
I have no idea if that was a feature that was removed or added by ab addon.
Does anyone know whether I can achieve this in current version?

It is the default behavior in a new profile.
Maybe you disabled it or installed an addon that changes it.

Please be aware that JS on a website can modify the content of the status bar.

I think the default is not to show the status bar at all.
Anyway the status bar can - unless I missed some options somewhere - either be shown or hidden, not what I am talking about.

I created a new profile on Pale Moon on Linux, status bar is enabled by default.
I may behave a little different on Windows, there are some differences between these versions (e.g. menu bar in Linux instead of PM blue button).

Please open about:profiles and create a new profile and try it this way.

Go to View >> Toolbars and see if there is a check mark next to Status Bar. Then go to Tools >> Status Bar Preferences for status bar options.

@LuftWafflePilot

Status Bar as Pop-up

- View\Toolbars\Status Bar = no checkmark
- Tools\Status Bar Preferences = Show status in: Pop-up

Hmm, that's still not what I have in mind. That doesn't show links on mouseover and neither does it pop the progress bar up.
I really don't remember when I had the browser work like that, could have been and old addon that's not even compatible with current PM or whatever...

Progress bar pop-up has never been a feature. The links popping up is a separate setting in the same status bar preferences though, I guess you overlooked it (it's in the same page as status where you set it to pop-up)

Whatever you have in mind - the settings I provided worked for me in the past and so do they now. It's the way I use the Status Bar.
It shows both, links on mouseover and the network status in Pop-up mode.

However, I omitted the third setting because I thought that it's self-explanatory:
Tools\Status Bar Preferences\Links: Show links in: Pop-up

Thanks.
I must have confused it with something in deep past.

This was what I was going for with my post, without spelling it out.
