Empty white box in Gitlab editor

Unread post by nmanos » 2021-02-18, 09:39

In Gitlab web console, trying to edit file content using the built in file editor,
the content is completely empty (white) without option to enter with the keyboard or mouse.

See attached screenshot example.

The only available work-around for pages which require Google Webcomponents is to use a secondary browser like Vivaldi, Brave or Waterfox

Off-topic:
Except for github.com pages, for which the browser extension github-wc-polyfill provides a workaround.

Yep. I used to work in Gitlab, and now GitHub. Both have me using an alternative browser for now. :x

Edit: Oh... The comment above might be a solution for me... :)

If you don't want to use an extension, this Greasemonkey userscript by Tobin works, sometimes. You can also try setting dom.webcomponents.enabled to true, which also works sometimes. Don't forget to reset the preference afterwards though, as it can break some sites.

It won't work in ShitLab and enabling the preference is NOT RECOMMENDED because WebComponents really is all or nothing. It is the killer technology.
I'm sorry, my responses are limited. You must ask the right questions.

I know. I thought it was obvious that I was referring to GitHub, considering that I mentioned the extension.
