Pale Moon Portable 28.12.0 - no 64-bit

Unread post by gepus » 2020-08-04, 10:34

Tested only the European mirror but might apply to other mirrors as well.
The package labeled as 64-bit gives the 32-bit.

Yup, something went wrong with releng and the 7z archive of 64-bit contains 32-bit files (that 7z being used to create the portable). I was extremely tired when I did all that
one cd .. missing in the codesigning script I've worked on, and we all missed that detail :silent:

Only affects the 7z archive and portable. I'll have it fixed within the hour, just needs some re-signing and packaging.

Question about Digital Signature

Unread post by Purpleroses » 2020-08-04, 12:11

I just downloaded the new version of Pale Moon but I noticed when I right click on the extension and go to properties I don't see a digital signature? Is it still safe to install the application even though it does not have a digital signature? Thank you for any help

The installer versions, both x86 and x64, are unsigned.

Really?
heh sure enough. makes no sense since I didn't touch that part of the script, but I'll find out what the problem is. I'll just re-sign and publish manually in the meantime.

Re: Question about Digital Signature

Unread post by Night Wing » 2020-08-04, 12:33

When I just installed the newest version, 28.12.0, I got the "Unknown" signature and that triggers my windows AV program to flag it as a "potentially harmful" program. I just had to turn off my AV to install the new version. Then I had to reboot the computer to turn my AV back on.

The new version is safe to install.

Now I'm going to install the linux version since linux Mint is my daily distro (operating system).

Moonchild, there is another topic also about missing signature. So, yes.

Merged the topics.

It should all be fixed now.

Note to self: don't do releng in the future if you're that tired.

Got one more question. I have downloaded the new program with the digital signature. Now when I go into program files x86 and click on Pale Moon folder then scroll down to Pale Moon application and right click on properties it does not show digital signature there. Anyone else seeing that or is just me?

No, it's not just you.

I'm sorry about the mess.
Just to be on the safe side I will re-sign, re-package and checksum all archives and installers again and publish them.
