Can't read Google Books content
In the last couple of weeks, whenever I go to a Google Books site that displays one or more pages, the screen looks normal, as it always has, but the content is blank. I've been having to copy the URL and paste it into Microsoft Edge to be able to read the content. Any ideas why?

Re: Can't read Google Books content
PROBABLY because Google Books is a Google product and therefore only aims to be used on a Google browser (which Edge (Chredge) is too nowadays)

Re: Can't read Google Books content
Not a very good answer, even if a true one. I spend a lot of my day doing research, much of which takes me to sources in Google Books. It's very inconvenient to keep switching back and forth between browsers. I'd hate to leave Pale Moon behind after all these years, especially for an ugly piece of junk like Edge, but I have to consider how best to work.

You asked for "any ideas why" and that was my answer to that question.
So what kind of answer did you expect? "Oh we'll get right onto fixing something we can't possibly fix"? ...

Google books works here. For some books not all pages are displayed but that lack is due to author choice / copyrightsmarvy42 wrote: ↑2020-05-22, 19:32In the last couple of weeks, whenever I go to a Google Books site that displays one or more pages, the screen looks normal, as it always has, but the content is blank. Re: Can't read Google Books content
So far after a few tests it seems that Google Books works for me with Pale Moon.
However since the thread opener doesn't bother to give a link for testing and I don't have my magic crystal ball at hand ...

Re: Can't read Google Books content
I understand that there are pages in a document that don't display by design. Those usually have some sort of notation that they aren't displaying.
Here's an example. I was researching a singer named Rufus Beacham. The link I followed was:
https://books.google.com/books?id=6ZNfA ... AEegQIChAB
In Pale Moon, I see the entire structure of the page (as I've always done), except for the page content itself. In Edge, the content also appears. I'll attempt to add some screen shots.
I'm using V28.9.3 of Pale Moon (64-bit) and Windows 10, V10.0.17763

Pale Moon works also in this case so it's something damaged on your PM profile. Make a fresh profile and try.marvy42 wrote: ↑2020-05-23, 12:04Here's an example. I was researching a singer named Rufus Beacham. The link I followed was:

FWIW, after clicking on the link, it also works for me using 64 bit linux Pale Moon 28.9.3 running in 64 bit linux Mint 19.3 (Tricia) Xfce. And I'm not logged in either.

Re: Can't read Google Books content
1.Create on your desktop a PM shortcut if you don't have..
2. Right click the shortcut - select "properties"
3. On the "Target" type this:
C:\Program Files\Pale Moon\palemoon.exe -p -no-remote
4. Click "Apply" then "ok"
-If your PM is installed on another drive type this drive instead of "C"
After all that click on the shortcut and the menu for profiles managing will open.

Re: Can't read Google Books content
Is this going to destroy any of my PM settings? If so, is there a way to capture them?

Re: Can't read Google Books content
A new profile will reset all preferences to Pale Moon defaults. This means you will have to select your desired preferences again -- please be aware that your current preferences/settings may be the very reason this is broken for you so please don't try to make an exact duplicate of what you currently have, but go from the new blank slate of the new profile to a setup you desire.

If you're using an adblocker, make sure it allows scripts from gstatic.com on books.google.com.au, and that you haven't blocked cookies from the site. I had to do both to get the page to work.

Re: Can't read Google Books content
Looks fine from here, as well, using Pale Moon 28.9.3 x64 on Windows 10 1909 x64.
