SurfShark account login failure with Pale Moon 28.8.2.1
When attempting to login to my SurfShark account page, the system will "hang" and nothing happens .... Yet I can access the same site with the browser Gnome Web a.k.a Epiphany.
Is there a "work around" in about:config or?

Re: SurfShark account login failure with Pale Moon 28.8.2.1
I tried the link, with negative results. I then installed "uBlock Origin" added a couple of customized filters:
@@||google-analytics.com^$domain=account.surfshark.com
@@||googletagmanager.com^$domain=account.surfshark.com
Even after system reboot, still unable to access the account page.
Thanks for the reply.

Re: SurfShark account login failure with Pale Moon 28.8.2.1
Is that even valid filter syntax? I have never seen a domain= before.
Re: SurfShark account login failure with Pale Moon 28.8.2.1
Just an exercise in futility .... I have deleted all and will use the Epiphany browser to access the Surfshark.com account site ...
Thanks for your input.

Yes it is:

Currently, surfshark's login page loads just fine for me when Google Analytics is blocked by ABL/ABPrime (tested just now in fresh profile with only those adblockers installed). Whatever is causing the problem for you, that's not it.Easy_Rider wrote: ↑2020-03-02, 13:09I tried the link, with negative results. If you're willing to do some troubleshooting, try the page in safe mode to determine if an extension is involved, or failing that, see if the problem persists in a new profile.

Yeah but when was it introduced to the Adblock Family. Note, as expected: Don't care about Gorhill's extension.

Re: SurfShark account login failure with Pale Moon 28.8.2.1
This morning I removed, purged and deleted all references to Pale Moon and Firefox files.
Rebooted, re-installed Pale Moon v.28.8.4 64bit, rebooted and tried accessing "account.surfshark.com" in safe mode, which failed, rebooted again and tried to access "account.surfshark.com" which also failed.
These trials were made with and without the "AdBlocker Prime v.1.0.7" installed.
For what its worth, my system runs Zorin 15.x (similar to Ubuntu 18.04.4).
Thanks to all for your input.

Re: SurfShark account login failure with Pale Moon 28.8.2.1
I just checked and can reach the login page without issue with standard blocking of ads (lunar blocklist) in place. No hang or error encountered.
Since I don't have an account and need to make a purchase to get an account, that's as far as I can get.

I can also get to the SurfShark login page without any problems. Without an account, this is as far as I can go.
At this time, I'm using 64 bit linux Pale Moon 28.8.4 running in 64 bit linux Mint 19.3 (Tricia) Xfce. The only extensions I use are NoSquint and uBlock Origin with UBO enabled. I'm also using Firefox Compatibility mode for the user agent.

I can also access the account.surfshark.com page with no problem .... its getting past or beyond that page that is the problem!

Same for me...no problemsNight Wing wrote: ↑2020-03-03, 16:07I can also get to the SurfShark login page without any problems. Without an account, this is as far as I can go.
However when looking into a few things I found this about Adblocker Prime: https://adguard.com/en/blog/adblockprime_notsafe.html
And I have to wonder is the OP aware of this? A system wide adblocker that messes with the MDN sounds kind of fishy to me IMO.

When you deleted "all references to Pale Moon" are you absolutely sure that included your profile (which must be unhidden to see)?Easy_Rider wrote: ↑2020-03-03, 15:55I removed, purged and deleted all references to Pale Moon and Firefox files.

Please try testing with a brand-new temporary profile (with no modified settings and no extensions)
rather than a new installation.
Open a command prompt, enter: palemoon --ProfileManager --no-remote
and follow the prompts to create the profile.
Re: SurfShark account login failure with Pale Moon 28.8.2.1
My take is that OP simply made a typo and wanted to write ABPrime ( the written 1.0.7 version is the same as the newest on PM addon site), and not "adblocker prime", which is something completely different.Kathuluforz wrote: ↑2020-03-03, 17:07However when looking into a few things I found this about Adblocker Prime: https://adguard.com/en/blog/adblockprime_notsafe.html

Re: SurfShark account login failure with Pale Moon 28.8.2.1
coffeebreak....
I tried what you suggested .... created a temp profile, made sure the ".moonchild" folder was deleted before new install (I knew it was a hidden file), tried accessing "https://account.surfshark.com" which failed.
Thanks for the tips

Re: SurfShark account login failure with Pale Moon 28.8.2.1
Do you by any chance use a hosts file for blocking? If so, try disabling it.Easy_Rider wrote: ↑2020-03-04, 04:18created a temp profile, ... tried accessing "https://account.surfshark.com" failed.
Are there any errors in the Error Console when you try to log in?
(Tools menu (or Pale Moon button) -> Web Developer -> Error Console)
Open the console and clear it. Then try to log in. If errors appear, copy and post them inside of code tags.

coffeebreak ... The following that I experienced as per your instructions .... as far as I can tell by searching the system .
there is not a hosts file being used.

Re: SurfShark account login failure with Pale Moon 28.8.2.1
I asked you to post errors just in case it proves useful to the devs, but I honestly don't know whether this error will be helpful. Like others here, this is as far as I can help since I don't have an account. However, you should try SurfShark's own support - you're a customer and entitled to it.
On a side note, using code tags means to wrap the content in tags like so: [ code] some text [/code]
(space added to break the tags).
The posting page has a BBCode button for that:
