Pale Moon 28.8.2.1 began to work very poorly

Unread post by Craftsman » 2020-02-10, 12:50

I uninstall NoScript, although this is not safe.

However, Pale Moon still freezes.
On previous versions of the PM this did not happen.
Hence, the reason is contained in the Pale Moon 28.8.2.1

See that: https://www.palemoon.org/releasenotes.shtml
The latest release only changes the User Agent setting only for YouTube.
Is your problem only appearing on YT?

I understood you. I specify: the Pale Moon also failed on several previous versions, but not so often.
On version 28.8.2.1, it constantly failed. Unfortunately.

Please create an completely new profile and do not install any extension nor change settings. Then try it again.
What OS do you use and how have you installed Pale Moon?

From a previous post of his, Craftsman has a problem with this site below since he gave it as an example:

https://popgun.ru

But I just came from there and I had no problems with that site. No freezing, no hanging. The only problem I had, I don't speak or understand the Russian language.

And I'm using at this time, 64 bit linux Pale Moon 28.8.2.1 running in 64 bit linux Mint 19.3 (Tricia) Xfce. The only two extensions I use are NoSquint and uBlock Origin with UBO enabled. The site sees my user agent mode as Firefox Compatibility.
Linux Mint 21.3 (Virginia) Xfce w/ Linux Pale Moon, Linux Waterfox, Linux SeaLion, Linux Firefox
MX Linux 23.2 (Libretto) Xfce w/ Linux Pale Moon, Linux Waterfox, Linux SeaLion, Linux Firefox
Linux Debian 12.5 (Bookworm) Xfce w/ Linux Pale Moon, Linux Waterfox, Linux SeaLion, Linux Firefox

I understand some (not much, now learning in school) and will try to browse the forum today in the evening.
Again, please create a new profile and check the behavior with that.
To do that run it with

Code: Select all

palemoon --ProfileManager
in your Terminal.

Maybe he can post some basic info and learn not to use a generic title and being vague as hell.

I created a new Pale Moon motor profile and it now works great! There are no failures!

But I need to work with the old profile. What do I need to do? :?:

Now install your Addons bit by bit and check if something isn't working as expected.

NOT NoScript.
I've enabled NoScript too and the named forum about weapons isn't freezing (I didn't browse that o while, only opened some pages).
So Craftsman has to find out the exact issue.
It may or may not be NoScript.

Extremely likely noScript corrupted the profile causing issues.
That might not show up in a fresh profile with a just-installed NoScript as some of its corruption is gradual.

And what can replace NoScript? I'm afraid to travel to sites without it :(

Off-topic:
uMatrix is to NoScript what uBlock Origin is to AdBlock/AdBlock Plus.

Since I installed 28.8.2.1, plus cookies exterminator, plus rearranged my default session with a few tabs less, I notice that the CPU load is now usually quite lower ! :D
