I often want to select a file from my home directory and it takes some time to find it or to navigate into subdirectories because the list is full of dot files.
Is there any way to filter dot files in the select file dialog in Linux (same way as 'ls' does) ?

Depends on your distro and window manager - nothing to do with Pale Moon. I use Mint 19.3 with Xfce - I can right-click in the file selection dialog and toggle 'Show hidden files' from the popup.
