Buttons on Github, Patreon, etc. stopped working
I have been noticing this issue since the last update (to 28.8.1), though it may have been present before. Basically what I'm seeing is that on Github, trying to use a feature like 'Merge pull request' in a PR thread results in nothing happening. Same for the 'commandline instructions' button on the same line. I circumvented this by using Chrome instead.
On Patreon I noticed that trying to create a new post with an image results in nothing happening when pressing the 'Upload image' button. This does however work when I then tried it in Opera.
Looking at the source for both cases, I see that Github uses some JavaScript-based triggers that should (presumably) respond to a button press. Patreon uses an 'input' element.
I made sure to disable any adblocking and similar, delete cookies, etc. but to no avail.
Is this just a fluke on my end that could be fixed by maybe fresh installing Pale Moon?

Re: Buttons on Github, Patreon, etc. stopped working
I can't say anything towards Patroen - but Github is adding "Polymer WebComponents" which are still missing in Pale Moon - but work is as it seems done to get them into Pale Moon too.
In the meantime, read this, as a user-agent override could be able to help in the meantime
Github - viewtopic.php?f=3&t=23611&p=181941&hilit=github#p181872
So no, this is nothing what you can fix with re-installing. If you can't deliver more detailed error/debug information towards Patreon - i suggest you use a different browser for this one.
To deliver some possible enlightening information - if available - on your own - Open the error/web console when clicking on not working buttons and post the relevant information (error messages)

Re: Buttons on Github, Patreon, etc. stopped working
Thanks for that info
I'll try the UA 'fix' for Github and keep an eye on what happens there. I'm getting the same 'TypeError: window.customElements is undefined' error there, so that matches with the symptoms.
For Patreon I see this error among the usual webfonts errors:
reducers passed to configureStore must be a plain object. makeAPost.24ce303a.chunk.js:1:162373

Re: Buttons on Github, Patreon, etc. stopped working
I use Github all the time and don't recall an issue. Though, I did have an issue a while ago and I believe that was due to me forging the referrer as the source of the page.
Edit-
Okay, the only problem I'm seeing now is that the verbiage that says " Fetching latest commit… " is constantly loading. That may or may not have to do with an extension I'm using. I'll have to try in safe mode. Also, I use the UAControl extension and make it look like I'm always using WIn 10 with the latest version of Firefox.

Re: Buttons on Github, Patreon, etc. stopped working
This morning I upgraded to Palemoon 28.8.1 because youtube was annoying me about my browser.
Github, where I spend most of my time has become nearly completely useless.
Long PR's and conversations get stuck loading. For example, this one:
https://github.com/finalburnneo/FBNeo/pull/181
reproduce: click url, scroll down and watch the circular "loading" indicator sit and spin forever
Going back to 28.4.1 fixes the problem, what a relief. Although when viewing commits, it always says "Loading branch information..."
regardless of 28.4.1 or 28.8.1 instead of the information it usually says there.
Nothing else suggested on this forum for Github would solve the problem with 28.8.1, going back to 28.4.1 is the only way.

Re: Buttons on Github, Patreon, etc. stopped working
I, too am having this issue on Github, but this was happening even before I upgraded to 28.1.1 on Windows 10 - stupidly I forgot to note whether I was using the immediately previous version or something older Edit: ah, I found the update history and it was 28.0.0. I was using "Firefox compatibility" mode however I have just switched that to "Native" mode and then clicking on the "Rebase and merge" worked for me:
System information (though with, I think, uninformative entries in "modifiedPreferences" about my printer culled):
After putting it back to "FireFox compatibility" mode I find that neither clicking on the currently selected "merge" mode button OR the drop-down menu to change what that is allows any action/change to occur (the drop down menu is generated but it is not possible to effect any change by clicking on an item) - the cursor is over the middle button and was being clicked to no effect here:
Curiously I also found that the ability to Ctrl-V to paste an image into the comment box was also non-functional in that mode (I am using the user-images.githubusercontent.com URL to host these images)...!

Re: Buttons on Github, Patreon, etc. stopped working
One other thing I found broken with github:
when one clicks on the green checkmark or red x next to a commit to find information about the Appveyor or CI build status, it tries to load the information but nothing ever happens.
best regards,

Re: Buttons on Github, Patreon, etc. stopped working
GitHub's issues are known and have been discussed in the other thread with a SSUAO workaround (of a "native" Goanna UA without a Gecko or Firefox slice) until we get the Google WebComponents features Polymer v2 wants which is slated for Milestone 29. That will also make latest version YouTube work. As well as, some random site some jerkass, who was rude as shit to us, wants to buy shirts from or something.
Please limit this thread's discussion to Patreon as that site doesn't have another thread for latest issues and doesn't seem like it is Polymer v2 related. Though I will double check that in a bit.
K, kids?
