Encryption appears

Unread post by NewMoon1 » 2019-10-12, 18:21

Tod day suddenly PaleMoon began to start with a pop-up shown in the attachment
Not only for Startpage but for some other websites too.
What happened? How can I get rid of that?

It just means that HTTPS is being used on those sites. Nothing should be popping up unless you're clicking the lock next to the URL.

Thanks. I cannot change it by clicking on the lock, nothing happens then...
And it even pops up TWICE! See attachment. Why twice? See attachment above...
Deactivating the HTTPS add-on changes nothing.
It may be good, but annoys me. Can I get rid it?

You can't get rid of HTTPS, nor should you want to, but I don't know why you're apparently seeing two favicons. What add-on(s) are you using?

OK, so I will accept this as probably being good for me...
But the double favicon was caused by the addon Favicon Restorer.
Now deactivated but all the others are active as before.

Favicon Restorer has Not worked correctly with PM since v26. On 27 and 28 it causes problems. But hey, when it did work it was great. Wish someone could fix it. As for the popup, I personally have never seen one.

The whole point of favicon restorer on Firefox was to restore the favicon in the URL bar when Mozilla decided to remove it. It's never been needed on Pale Moon because we've never removed the favicon from the URL bar.

You are correct. I was actually thinking about "FavIcon Reloader" which would reload all the missing bookmark icons.
