Is that still valid? I don't seem to have that folder.

Usually I wouldn't mind, but the new icon is, unfortunately, basically invisible against my toolbar.

edit: okay yes created the folder and it worked, thanks.

K.. Highjacking this thread because I am Tobin.

Would this be any better for the 16x16 icon? The modified version is on the right:

Anything more would cause a too great of a visual discontinuity between the 16x16 version and the rest of the sizes.

Just a Paler Moon icon. Thank Goodness. I thought my Pale Moon was disabled (grayed out) by some evil Google conspiracy!

I think it helps a lot. The only potential issue I see with the new logo is that it's hard to recognize on lighter backgrounds. Adding a bit more of a shadow to it to give it some definition should make it work.

I actually thought it might be another one of those things like Chik-fil-a vs. Chick-fil-a and Berenstain vs. Berenstein. I'm just glad to see they actually changed it and there's a record of the old one existing.
"The Athenians, however, represent the unity of these opposites; in them, mind or spirit has emerged from the Theban subjectivity without losing itself in the Spartan objectivity of ethical life. With the Athenians, the rights of the State and of the individual found as perfect a union as was possible at all at the level of the Greek spirit." -- Hegel's philosophy of Mind

It's a 16x16 icon.. it can't HAVE a dropshadow without it getting smaller and loosing even more definition. Additionally, going any further would cause a visual discontinuity that wouldn't look right. This is about as good as it gets.

As for light and similar color backgrounds it is much improved:

AND it has the benefit of being color wise identical to the larger sizes:

The fact is, a lot of work already went into this new styling and such and we aren't going back.. Just get used to it. The real question of course is.. Do you want the improvement or not?

Change is inevitable, but it doesn't bother me much at all.

I am in favor of the tweaks proposed to the 16x16 icon... just so you know.

For a moment I thought that the icon in the Quick Launch bar (W7 with Themes off and sort-of XP mode) had gone - it was just a paler moon on pale blue ground.
I do tend to prefer stronger colours for quick recognition, but I'll soon get used to this one.
Thanks for the update.

The new icon makes shortcuts difficult to see on my desktop.

I would not say it's ugly, but the contrast of the new icon is so low, that the icon gets hopelessly lost between all the other icons.
In terms of branding and what it is supposed to achieve, it is a step in the wrong direction, in my opinion.

If you like it or not and your general opinion was not requested. What was requested was to chime in on the tweaked version of the 16x16 icon if it tends to improve the issue with the 16x16 icon mainly on the taskbar and by extension the titlebar.

Tobin, the one on the right most definitely is better.

In case anyone wants a quick and dirty fix, I downloaded the zip of the last version and replaced icons in the new exe using ResourceHacker. Not looking forward to doing this on every update tho :D

I vote in favor of the version with enhanced contrast, the one on the right.
