Suggestion: specific section for userChrome & userContent

Unread post by Konrad » 2019-05-22, 12:33

Is it possible (reasonable?) to set up a specific section for topics related to userChrome.css and userContent.css? In the Pale Moon Support branch, for example.

userChrome and userContent.css are, at best, to be considered temporary hacks to work around issues while waiting for someone to write a proper extension/theme.

My opinion is that an entire "Learning/School" section (or even website) is needed, complete with step A,B, C etc. tutorials and articles for beginners, up to medium or even advanced levels. You guys keep telling users to learn how to build an extension etc. and rightly so. There are known articles scattered around like this one and they need to be organized, adapted and presented for Pale Moon / UXP. It would offer a great incentive for users. Yes, I know all of this requires a lot of work and time is not available. As a start, existing articles could be simply gathered up and linked to.

Since the proper extension may or may not appear (often the latter), userChrome/userContent tips&tricks could be a useful sub-section of the above 'School'.

In the case of themes there is already a full writeup on our wiki, over here. That's one of the more important resources if you're looking to move away from userChrome.css and into more official means. With that said, if you're only looking for minor changes it's probably a lot more manageable to use something like Stylem to manage individual styles (both chrome and content).

We have a developer wiki that ANYONE CAN REGISTER ON AND UPDATE. We simply don't have the time to write tutorials.
