About Menu feature request (select/copy text).

Unread post by BenFenner » 2019-05-01, 17:59

Text can no longer be copied from the newly redesigned About Menu. Quite often the version number needs to be copied, but now that can't be done. As a general kindness to users, the entire About text including application name, version, description, footer/copyright text, etc. should also be able to be selected and copied.

Edit: I just assumed this was a regression! I checked an earlier version and it seems this was never possible. O_o
Please forum staff, move this to the feature request section? I'm editing the title...

You can still copy the app name, version number & build ID from Help > Troubleshooting Information.

There is also just plain old about: .. try it. Also, is it too much work to type "28.5.0" seriously?

I use this to add that function to the add-ons manager " Add-ons Manager Context Menu 0.4.2.1-signed.1-signed".
It can be found by installing and searching in the "Classic addons Archive".

I have this add on and I don't think it allows you to do this for the
actual PM version. Or am I missing something? :problem:

@billmcct: This is about the Application version.

This isn't a bug. Please don't put feature requests in the bug reporting board.

As for the OP's request, no, sorry, it's a display-only property.
As stated if you need to copy application information you can do so in the help -> troubleshooting information page. Or you can type the version number yourself.
