Dictionary.com search plugin problem
Dictionary.com search plugin problem
At risk of being called an idiot, I'm noticing a problem with the dictionary.com search plugin from off Pale Moon's site. When using it, I keep getting the message below. I know the last time I used this search plugin it worked. If I go directly to dictionary.com and enter my search there, it works. Can somebody test this please to see if it's a problem with the search plugin, or with me (apparently I have more problems than what I thought).
Re: Dictionary.com search plugin problem
Works for me so that rules out the search plugin its self from being an issue. Are you in the US? Blockers, settings, extensions, you know the drill.

Yes, in U.S. Just tested it in a brand spanking new profile and I still get the same message. Any ideas?

How long as this been happening for you.. Also, paste the resulting URL.
Re: Dictionary.com search plugin problem
Just noticed it today. Can't remember how long ago I last used it. Here's a url (just finished watching a Dragnet show on Youtube):

Re: Dictionary.com search plugin problem
FWIW, I don't know anything about the plugin itself, but I can confirm the OP's results. Going directly to the website with its URL is not a problem. If I use the supplied URL, I get the same "unavailable" results. I have nothing blocking nothing.

How strange.. I have checked the search plugin on all UXP Browsers. It works for me.

Re: Dictionary.com search plugin problem
I haven't tested the search plugin, but I have tried the URL you posted in several browsers - both UXP (Pale Moon, Basilisk) and non-UXP (Firefox, Chromium) - and I got the same error message in every single one of them. I don't know what causes this issue or why it doesn't happen for Tobin, but it does not seem to be an application- or platform-specific issue.
Btw, I'm using (Manjaro) Linux, so I can rule out overzealous security software.

Re: Dictionary.com search plugin problem
I have minimal problems with my security software and have no reason to believe this might be involved.New Tobin Paradigm wrote:System Security Software?

Re: Dictionary.com search plugin problem
Maybe they have servers in a round robin that one of them is busted but others are fine. Could be that is what the server does when overloaded or maybe sunspots or black magic.
I had one request that errored but only one.. Basically, what ever the issue is it isn't on our side.

If this was directed at me, the answer is no. Only a firewall.New Tobin Paradigm wrote:

It's still happening to me. I can't get even one to go through. Maybe one day it will automagically start working again just like it stopped.New Tobin Paradigm wrote:
