kovacsoltvideo.hu repository

Unread post by Kudalufi » 2019-03-28, 01:24

I am wondering if the kovacsoltvideo.hu repository is no longer being actively maintained, or is it just temporarily behind?

I'm unfamiliar with that domain -- if it is a repo it's not an official one.

@Moonchild that is the domain for the endorsed Debian/*buntu repacks by László Kovács.

I have shot the maintainer an email requesting an update on the status of the repo.

After a month with no answer form the maintainer I think it's safe to say that the repository is no longer being maintained. @Kudalufi if you were previously using this repository I suggest you use the tarballs from the http://linux.palemoon.org/ or use https://software.opensuse.org/download.html?project=home%3Astevenpusser&package=palemoon.

@Moonchild can you make a note of this repo on the Historical/archived listings section of the Contributed builds page? I will be removing the link from the front page of the Linux site.

I'll update the page with the general site update for tomorrow's release

Thanks for following up on this. I've now switched over to Steve's tarballs. For anyone else who needs to switch repositories, it's painless. If you are updating from the old kovacsoltvideo.hu repository, then simply doing an apt-get remove palemoon, followed by replacing the repository and key, and then simply an apt-get install palemoon and it all works flawlessly. As long as you don't do a purge when you uninstall the old package, palemoon will pick up right where you left off after switching. It even had my saved tabs.

For any other users who are also using Mint, for Mint 19.X the correct one of Steve's repositories to use is the Ubuntu 18.04 one.
