uBlock Origin getting incompatible Topic is solved

uBlock Origin getting incompatible
Among the github releases of uBlock Origin, version 1.17.5rc4 (Dec 29, 2018) appears to be the last one Basilisk accepts, newer versions are reported to be incompatible (which made me disable the uBlock Updater).
Which of both sides would easier adapt to these new differences?

Re: uBlock Origin getting incompatible
The reason for this is simple - form ed5d63df69b7fa044a4d9f649916bd2e9116bd82 WebExtension edition of uBlock requires at least Firefox 55.
Re: uBlock Origin getting incompatible
Thank you for pointing at the root of this issue, yami_ ... this should help the developers deciding on a convenient solution.
Fun and success!

In any case, if I may say so, I don't think the decision to disable uBlock Updater in Basilisk was a good one. It found the latest version of UBlock Origin Legacy (1.16.4.9 as of yesterday) just fine in Pale Moon, both the stable and unstable versions. Why wouldn't uBlock Updater in Basilisk do this, too?
As has been mentioned in several other posts, UBlock Origin Legacy still appears to work fine with Basilisk, and this includes yesterday's update.

In regard to ABPrime, it hasn't been updated since June 2018, so I feel that sticking with UBlock Origin Legacy makes sense - at least to me.

Re: uBlock Origin getting incompatible
ABPrime hasn't been updated because there hasn't been a reason to update it. Works fine.. Though, I do need to release an update soon for expanded application support due to Phoebus 2.0.
Anyway, just because I am not shitting out updates every 6 weeks or less doesn't mean there is a problem. Also, dunno if you noticed, I been a bit busy the past fuckin year doing the everything along with the others.
A fuck ton of those Firefox extension updates you seem to be recalling as a normal way of life was the result of Mozilla busting shit 24/7.
I KNOW you know better than this, dude. Don't be a moron.
Maybe I need to remove dates from Phoebus, hmm..

Anyway, I really have searched for an answer to my question on the net, but (moronic me) I didn't find anything, so here goes: Is there a way to import my personal filters from UBlock Origin into ABPrime?
And by the way, I certainly know you're busy with the PM/Basilisk projects and sincerely appreciate the time and energy you devote to my favorite browsers. You and the team have made many people happy in mitigating the fact of

I will not support anything related to Gorhill even for migration to my own products. That is how much I hate him and his software.
Re: uBlock Origin getting incompatible
No, I am no developer.JoeyG wrote:In referring to the poster's comment,I assumed this to mean that "LigH1L" is one of the developers"(which made me disable the uBlock Updater)"
Pale Moon offered in their "Compatible Add-ons" page once a link to a legacy uBlock Origin and an additional uBlock Updater. I believe this additional updater checked for current legacy versions instead of WebExtension version, I am not even sure if that one became obsolete. And I disabled automatic updating for uBlock Origin as well.
Now, that there is so much hate between both developer teams ... well, is there any ad blocker as efficient and as lightweight which you don't hate as much?
P.S.: Ah, you mentioned ABPrime. I will have to get to know that one.
Fun and success!

Just to set the record straight, it wasn't I who mentioned the word "hate".

Re: uBlock Origin getting incompatible
I somehow think I shouldn't do it, but I as a certified moron, I'm gonna mention this anyway: There's an update of UBlock Origin Updater to 1.6.7.
https://github.com/JustOff/ublock0-upda ... -1.6.7.xpi
I guess the PaleMoon Addons page hasn't been updated; it still leads to 1.6.6.
Interestingly, neither PaleMoon's nor Basilisk's "Check for Updates" function found it.
Since I had updated to the latest UBlock Origin manually - in PM and Basilisk - I guess I won't know whether it works till a new version of UBO comes out.
I'm a-headin' for cover ...

Re: uBlock Origin getting incompatible
AFACT, The UBO updater update from 1.6.6 to 1.6.7 only adds a change for supporting the Basilisk add-ons page, which wouldn't affect Pale Moon. And since the updater isn't actually on addons.basilisk-browser.org yet, Basilisk wouldn't be able to update the add-on anyway.

R. Gorhill supports a Xul application and Pale Moon is not abandoned.

OK, I'll bite.
Explain?
And yes I understand that "legacy" uBlock is just that, legacy, in that I doubt (don't know) that there is "active" development.
But by the same token, every so often he may throw a fix or feature its' way. (Similar to that other loved extension .)

There is not *hate* between both developer teams.
Respectfully, you're reading too much in. Tobin's post merely reflects his own feelings.
LigH1L wrote:is there any ad blocker
To my knowledge there are three adblockers that can be used with Basilisk:
uBlock Origin (xul version); Adblock Latitude; and ABPrime.
Your choice of adblocker really should be based on your own experience using them.
Test drive each of them for a while, independently (install only one at a time) so that each one feels familiar, even comfortable.
Then pick and stick with the one you like best.
Re: uBlock Origin getting incompatible
You do realize I haven't been expressly a member of the Pale Moon "Development Team" since the end of 2016 right? I am, however, part of the .. well I call it an alliance (some may simply refer to it as community) helping drive UXP forward. Pale Moon is a big part of UXP's existence because that is where it evolved from so what I do occasionally crosses over into Pale Moon specific development.. Especially for the initial UXP port of Pale Moon.
My Primary focus, however, is platform development and of course my own BinOC Projects. Not that Pale Moon isn't close to my heart but ye.. Things change. I am a free agent (some say pain in the ass) in the context of Pale Moon development.
The merits of the community (alliance) driven Unified XUL Platform is huge. It brings us all so much closer to the original Mozilla ideal even if it never actually existed before in reality like many of us wish to remember the old days as being like.
