Why are you asking here on a Pale Moon forum in a Pale Moon for Linux board?

Interlink has nothing to do with Pale Moon, Moonchild Productions, or this forum which is not a valid support venue.

If you can't read the very page where you would download Interlink let alone bother to ask your question on a proper medium.. I don't think I want you using my software.

Very rude reply which was uncalled for and to be honest if i received such a disrespectful reply i dont think i would wish to use the software anyway...please do not ever attempt salesmanship as you would fail miserably.

I think it is rude to disregard that I asked for support issues and questions not to be posted to the Pale Moon forums like ALL BinOC projects. I find it rude that the Interlink Page which I carefully written and already answered this question was not actually read.

I also find it rude that by posting here in this board on this forum is an example of misattribution of my work as someone elses.

So it is hardly uncalled for.. What is uncalled for is lack of regard for the text on the page and instruction on the forum that I have already made.

How disrespectful is disregard anyway? Cause in my book it is a lot.

As for you Moonraker, I don't want you using my software either.

Bottom line, don't be a moron and I won't respond to it as such.

It's entertaining to watch Tobin deteriorate into an exact copy of Andrew Dolgov in real time, isn't it?

Yeah, make a joke, dismiss, do anything except try to understand anyone's perspective than your own let alone debate it. If my perspective or opinion is incorrect or baseless why not explain how or why? Change my mind.

Oh that would take effort like bothering to read something a few hundred pixels below a download link for what you want or a page popped up on every new version or god forbid searching the forum.

Nope, just crazy angry Tobin, doesn't deserve the time of day on anything. Except, of course, when the effort may involve trying to degrade, diminish, and destroy him then everyone puts massive effort into that, don't they?

I think people want a forum (could be a subforum to the Pale Moon forum just like FossaMail). I don't think Moonchild would oppose that but you Tobin don't want that and don't want to set up your own forum either. It's your decision. I can only speak for myself and I'm hesitant to use software without any form of forum support. How is info saved with IRC so you can learn from other people's questions?

I'm using SeaMonkey for mail which doesn't have a forum (maybe Mozilla forum). If I'm going to change I want something that is better supported and right now I don't feel Interlink Mail & News is that application. It's not a big deal for me personally, but big enough that I wrote these lines.

IRC is only for basic support questions largely it is for community interaction.. If it becomes complex then that is what the Issue Tracker is for on Github. Both are links on the Resources sidebar block on the Interlink page. The same page that answered the question this thread was created asking.

The fact is, there is no justification I can see to run a forum when I have IRC and the Issue Tracker.. and having a board here? It intrinsically links Binary Outcast to Moonchild Productions. A forum which I am sometimes banned from because I don't actually like the vast majority of you. A notion the vast majority shares about me. Yes, I could create my own forum or have a board here.. What would the response be then? It would be one of only a handful of outcomes which pretty much happens here already just with more hurt feelings..
  • Answers your question
  • Okay that is a bug I will fix it. (requiring an issue on the tracker)
  • That is an interesting idea for a thing.
  • No that is stupid, stop being a moron!
  • That is already answered on the Interlink page (or another thread dozens of times).
  • RESOLVED WONTFIX or RESOLVED INVALID
  • BANNED! (If my own forum)
Who needs a forum for that.. Honestly. Bottom line? You can come and talk to me in IRC and if you don't want to do that.. Open an issue on the tracker.

I can say that my experience with Tobin's IRC/GitHub Issue tracker support has been good, and personally I have never felt a need for an Interlink support forum.

I see a forum as a knowledge base that you can learn from. Most of what I know about Linux comes from forum threads, some of them several years old.

Instead of writing a thick manual for a piece of software a forum can serve the same purpose. A forum is also a good way to build "momentum" and attract people that might be helpful to the project. Some people will not be helpful, but those can be banned.

Anyway, you do as you wish, just one more thing. Is the source code in such a state that stevepusser here on the forum (he builds Pale Moon) would be able to build it/package it for MX Linux?

I think if it was packaged for MX Linux that forum could serve as a substitute forum for MX Linux users. I think it would be a win-win to have Interlink Mail & News in the MX repo. If this seems like a good idea I can make a package request to Stevo in the MX Linux forum.

I'm not an Interlink user, but I want to say that I'm with Tobin on this matter.
A developer doesn't have to set up a forum or anything like that, just user support which can be in the form of a issue tracker or even just a mail address.
If users want a forum but the developer doesn't want to, it's up to them to find a suitable place.
Actually, a developer doesn't even need to provide building instructions when distributing the source code, that's just something given for convenience not an obligation (like how licenses saying the user must have access to the source code don't force the developer(s) to make it publically available worldwide).
While the fundrising started here, Tobin made clear since the start that it wasn't associated with this place (and the Interlink page doesn't make any association), so he has every right to complain when people ask something here or want to have a subforum here.
On the other hand, I believe that opening an "Interlink thread" in the "general discussion" section of this forum doesn't go against the rules nor against Tobin's independence.
After all that place is for "off-topic" conversations.
Though of course Tobin doesn't have to follow what happens there and that is not a place to report bugs either, because that would be the issue tracker or whatever he wants to use to track bugs.

I have no objections to stevepusser creating builds of Interlink as long as he complies my terms for such builds. Knowing him, he shall because he is one of the good guys when it comes to building code properly per developer specifications. He, however, has not approached me for doing so.

This is off-topic as much as this entire thread is off-topic to the Pale Moon forums.

Locking thread for being very off-topic.
Any Interlink questions and issues should be directed to BinOC, not be posted here.
