Can't play video since update

Unread post by RuneRaion » 2018-08-16, 17:58

Just updated PM and now it will not play vids on YouTube, etc, They freeze and the circle comes up as if it is loading (but it is not). I had been having trouble with the older version (Like ALL the versions) with it losing functionality after doing video watching, going through multiple search pages, etc. Shutting down and clearing out windows (W7, 32) would restore it to operation but that no longer works with the new version.

Anyone else getting this issue?

Ok, here you are:

Tried Safe Mode but problem persists. Disabled Add-ons anyway.

On regular content screen will go black with (sometimes) partial content.

Win7, Ultimate/SP1, 32 bit,

I went to PM because I did not like FF's attitude but am really considering going back. I have had these issues on all my computers.

I'm running Win7 as you are and do not have Youtube problems on Pale Moon v28 (32-bit).

I am using this UAO for Youtube (about:config): "general.useragent.override.youtube.com" is set to "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:55.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/55.0"

If you have something different try modifying your UAO pref to the value above.

If this is not the issue then I would suggest you try using a "clean" Pale Moon profile to see if this helps.

Unfortunately your integrated Intel graphics chip is of such poor quality that it had to be blacklisted for just about everything.
There's very little that can be done to remedy this - you should get yourself a dedicated graphics card (a very simple basic/cheap model will do) if you want to have proper video playback and web page compositing support in Pale Moon.

I'll look into it but I should note that I just spent several hours playing videos without a single hiccup with FireFox. I also got a ton of effects and options I never knew were available on YouTube. I may just go back to FF since it has no issues with crashing after playing for long periods.

There is something basically wrong with PM that other browsers don't have any problem with. If FF and IE don't have any problem why does PM?

you should also get the portable version which uses an unique new profile which does not affect your normal one to see if the issue sill exists.

Here you can also find the portable version.
