I was attempting to duplicate a problem with Citibank in Safe Mode -- but was unable to duplicate at the time. Pale Moon started getting a few "Script Busy" errors while simply surfing some sites while waiting on the Citibank site to duplicate the error. I requested Pale Moon to continue to attempt to use the "busy" scripts rather than abort the script for if I recall more than one website and at some point the browser simply crashed.

I didn't detect any browser sluggishness beyond the "Script busy" errors that occurred a few times and there wasn't any indication of any noticeable stress on the CPU usage at the time.

Question for PMR: Why aren't you posting these various PM 28 beta2 threads in the Pale Moon UXP alpha/beta section?

My bad -- didn't notice the "UXP alpha/beta" board. (the board I was using, the word "was" the operative word now, the first board I noticed regarding the unstable version)

I would think there to be no reason for:
Google Update 1.3.33.17
Microsoft Office 2010 14.0.4730.1010
Microsoft Office 2010 14.0.4761.1000
Microsoft Office 2013 15.0.4514.1000
Windows Live Photo Gallery 15.4.3508.1109

Can't image any use these days for:
QuickTime Plug-in 7.7.8 7.7.8.0

Do you actually have a need for:
Shockwave for Director 11.5.8.612
Silverlight Plug-in 5.1.50907.0
VLC Web Plugin 2.2.7.0
Java(TM) Platform SE 8 U161 11.161.2.12
Java Deployment Toolkit 8.0.1610.12 11.161.2.12 - DISABLED

Well outdated, as I'm sure you know:
Adobe Acrobat 9.5.5.316

Much of above is outdated (Acrobat) or deprecated (Quicktime) & vulnerable.

So what's left?
Adobe Flash 30.0.0.113

And Flash is on its last legs.

Unless you have a specific need... I'd disable all, except set Flash to 'Ask".

Is there so much of a need for Acrobat to open embedded in the browser window?
So you click a .pdf & it opens externally, in Acrobat. Big deal. Or you could use something (perhaps ?) like pdf.js.

therube's interjection aside, I asked because it seems you hit an out-of-memory situation in a plugin and it hard-crashed the plugin container, taking the browser with it -- do you know if what you were visiting might have been using any of those plugins at the time you crashed?

I'm not sure about most actually -- but I do use the 2010 Microsoft suite (specifically Word, Excel extensively and Outlook as well) and One Note had been updated to 2013 as an option. I read a lot of PDF files (as I'm sure most do) and so wouldn't I need Adobe Acrobat for that? Windows Live Photo Gallery came with WIN7 so just left it there..... Isn't Adobe Flash needed for proper website rendering? As to the remainder I'm not that sure about so perhaps disabling as suggested isn't a problem.

You can always set them to ask to activate if you're not sure.

Hmm I noticed the reference to "plugin container", the problem is I simply can't recall off-hand what exactly I was visiting on the web.... I started opening sites while waiting on Citbank to "time-out" which is what I was testing. I'm certain Citi had nothing to do with the crash. I know I was getting repeated "Script busy" errors at the time from presumably one of the websites. Off the top-of-my-head I just can't recall all of what I visited -- I'll try and think about it more (try and reconstruct in my mind what I might have done) and if I come up with something I'll certainly post back....

Thanks for the reply...

Well I'm guessing that whatever site it was throwing the script errors at you was also responsible for your crash. It may have been spawning a ton of flash instances because of broken scripting.

That's just Adobe having aggressive marketing.

I'm currently using this:

Feels fast and lightweight. In the past, I've used Foxit products and really liked them. You can be halfway through a pdf in Foxit while Acrobat is still on its splash screen.
