Firefox just got updated to 60.0, so use that UA.

BTW- Anyone using 7Z may want to update. There was a CVE for it recently.

To avoid needing 7Z etc., it might be worth trying Universal Extractor. Integrates with the OS, so just R-click and choose the option. I extract to a sub-directory to avoid having files scattered around.
It'll even take e.g. Palemoon.exe and extract it to a useable form.

Windows 7 Pro 32-bit. Comodo Internet security or Comodo Firewall + Avira Anivirus.

Why don't you try 7zip before writing this offtopic post. 7zip is an eminent archive manager and has all the things you emphasize about Universal Extractor.
Universal extractor is much slower than 7zip because it is actually only a program that uses already existing archive managers one-by-one until success. Actually Universal Extractor uses an old version of 7zip.
The problem with Universal Extractor is that the developer is dead, so what you get is a mess made by several other people. Not really updated and with plenty of bugs.

Apparently, anyone with some privacy settings gets the pictures (it could also be caused by browser bias, I don't know). I can't even remember a single event where clicking the checkbox got me through; which is understandable given that I reject third-party cookies, disable geolocation and periodically clear cookies I don't want.

And a small secret: no one is sure about what to do with the poles that hold up the street signs.
I wondered about this aggravating worthless time consuming hinderance "captcha" as I see it proves nothing to anyone concerned, I too wondered "laughing" about the poles as the signs wouldn't be anywhere without them? LOL.
I actually got one success on the first window by doing random clicks, but since then not ever. Nothing but a "pain in the yangyang."

Thanks for the explanation about the endless captcha nonsense with Palemoon. Another annoyance with Google is that every time I update Palemoon Google tells me I am logging in from an unknown device and I have to revalidate myself, getting a couple of security alert emails as well. It looks as if they really don't like us.

fired up Basilisk, no captchas.
UA has no effect with PM either, its something else triggering it.

Didn't have to solve even one. I got the checkmark right away.

And once the 2nd time I tried.

It's more than likely the IP then. If you use a VPN or proxy the problem will more than likely be worse. I don't get that may captchas at all. Only for some logins and stuff that needs to run a captacha to thwart bots. Other than that no captcha issues at all.

Depending on your ISP it may be just that. You could be using an IP that was previously used for spam or a tor exit, etc. Also, make sure your router firmware is updated. I've seen many hackers take over people's routers and they wonder why their speed is so slow. Well, they've unwittingly became a zombie.

I've used Universal Extractor before in the past for certain files. But like was mentioned already, it's really not all that reliable. And if it does use old 7z code, then that's a big no, no since I just got done saying there was a CVE for 7Z and you should update 7Z.

Some attempts:
  • 2 times (car)
  • 6 times (5 street signs + 1 car)
  • 2 times (bus + car)
  • 1 time (car)
  • 2 times (bus + car)
I strongly believe that Google coders have some kind of problem with street sings... :problem:

Well singing on the street is a tad odd :p
Now street signs - there's Google's issue :)

12 tries for me. Do not run into it often enough to be overly concerned about it. ;)

reCapcha woes

Unread post by thosrtanner » 2018-06-08, 20:09

as of last night, reCapacha (on www.greatnorthernrail.com when doing a claim for a refund) has stopped working.

Firstly, my cpu usage rockets and the whole browser goes like a drain
Secondly, if I persevere through the capchas (waiting 5-10s for any click to be responded to), I get "Cannot contact reCAPTCHA. Check your connection and try again"

It works fine on firefox (of course).

Has something changed in their scripting?

I think in order to help you, someone other than yourself has to have an account for that site to try and duplicate what you're seeing reCapacha wise and also to see if it makes their cpu rocket so "help" might be hard to get to solve your problem.

I've noticed this as well that Google Captchas in particular are absolutely abysmal in number of attempts trying to solve when using Pale Moon. Ironically other captchs are not like this. I'm not sure why Google designs their captchas this way. Interestingly, in other browsers Google Captcha at times will automatically solve/allow without any selection of cars or signs.
